Superion Gaming got off to the best possible start in the ArrMY closed qualifiers. The team, which wasn’t considered a clear favourite, showed as early as the first round that they were capable of causing an upset and shaking up the balance of power. Few expected their clash with Dom Towarowy to end in such a convincing victory across the maps. Meanwhile, Superion Gaming kept their cool, got off to a good start in the series and capitalised on their opportunities to seal the match with a 2-0 scoreline. This is just the beginning of their journey in the Closed Qualifiers. However, it is already clear that the team could be one of the tournament’s dark horses and realistically compete for more than just a single victory.
Ancient under control, a thriller on Dust 2 – a display of character from Superion Gaming
The first map of the contest was Ancient, and it was there that Superion Gaming took their first, very confident step towards victory. Although the final score of 13-7 might suggest a one-sided encounter, the course of the map itself was more complex. This is particularly true in a Closed Qualifier clash, where every round counts. Despite this, Superion maintained a lead for most of the match and controlled the pace of the game. This, in turn, allowed them to finish the map comfortably, without a dramatic finale. Defeating Dom Towarowy in this manner in the first round of the series gives the team a solid foundation for the rest of the competition. It also shows that the team can capitalise on their opportunities when the stakes are high.
The second map, Dust 2, proved far more thrilling. Here, the outcome remained in the balance for a long time, with neither team able to establish a clear lead that would have allowed them to secure a comfortable victory within regulation time. Every round was crucial, and the score hovered around a draw, which further emphasised the tension and importance of the match. In such conditions, it is not only technique or skill that counts, but also mental resilience and consistency at key moments. Dust 2 therefore required Superion Gaming to maintain their concentration and patience right until the very end of regulation rounds. All this so that the series could go into overtime and determine the winner of the map.
Of course, the overtime was meant to be the decisive moment of the map… Yet it turned out to be the decisive moment for the entire series. It was then that Superion Gaming kept their cool and composure, which allowed them to tip the scales of victory in their favour. The final score of 16:14 sealed the triumph, closing out the match 2:0 and confirming that the first round of qualifiers had ended with a surprise. Although the second map was far more demanding, it shows that Superion can cope in difficult situations and secure victory, even when the pressure mounts. This is a great start for the team, which could have a positive impact on their future performances in the Closed Qualifiers.
The next challenge is today
The victory over Dom Towarowy is just the first step in the ArrMY Closed Qualifiers. Superion Gaming face another challenge that could put their current form to an even tougher test. Today at 20:45, the team will play their next match, with 4 Pancernych i Kot on the other side of the server. If Superion maintain the form they showed in the opening match and once again demonstrate composure at crucial moments, they can realistically aim for another victory.
