Vandals Clan’s qualification for the Olsztyn Gaming Series LAN finals has been confirmed as early as the first qualifying round. The team has thus demonstrated its excellent form and consistent performance throughout the tournament. The final tournament itself will take place on 27–28 June at the Urania Hall in Olsztyn, where the best teams will face off in an offline setting, in front of a live audience and under full tournament conditions.
For the Vandals, this is an important step in terms of their further development and proving themselves on a bigger stage. The team progressed through the qualifiers in a fairly convincing manner, recording several solid victories which ultimately secured their promotion without the need to compete in further stages of the qualifiers. However, the road to the LAN wasn’t just a formality… At times, it required full concentration and the effective execution of tactical plans.
Vandals Clan’s path to the qualifiers’ final
Vandals Clan’s first step in the bracket was a bye, which automatically took them through to the next round. At the same time, however, it meant no ‘warm-up’ for the tournament and an immediate leap to a higher level of intensity. There, the pace of the competition quickly picked up, as their first real opponent was the WTG AC team. The match, played on the Nuke map, was by no means an easy one. However, the Vandals managed to maintain their lead at crucial moments and steadily build up their lead. Ultimately, it ended in a confident 13–7 victory, which gave them a comfortable start to the rest of the qualifiers and allowed them to get into the rhythm of the tournament.
In their next match, they faced CwelulozaOficjal, and the contest was clearly much more one-sided. Vandals Clan dictated the pace of the game from the outset and effectively seized the initiative in successive rounds, not allowing their opponents to get into their stride. They controlled the Dust 2 map practically throughout the entire match, resulting in a very clear 13–4 victory. It was one of those matches in which the difference in organisation and individual skill was particularly evident across the entire map.
Reaching the semi-finals meant a clash with Monki Flip, where the contest was decidedly more evenly matched. Both teams regularly traded rounds, and the outcome remained in the balance for a long time. On the Nuke map, the game was a point-for-point affair, with neither side able to build a comfortable lead. Ultimately, however, it was Vandals Clan who came out on top in the closing stages, showing greater composure at crucial moments and sealing the match with a 13–10 victory, which secured their place in the grand final of the qualifiers.
The Grand Final against Fang Esport
The qualifiers’ final saw them face off against Fang Esport. The BO3 format, however, promised a longer and more demanding series, in which every mistake could prove crucial. The very first map, Nuke – chosen by Vandals Clan – quickly confirmed that this would not be a one-sided affair. Both teams traded rounds regularly, and for most of the match neither side was able to build a clear lead, keeping the tension high right until the very end.
The outcome of the first map was only decided in overtime, where the Fang Esport players proved marginally more effective, winning 14–16 and taking the lead in the series. Vandals Clan thus found themselves in a situation where every subsequent mistake could spell the end of their hopes of progression, which called for a swift response and improved performance on the next map.
Their response came on Mirage, selected by Fang Esport. This time, Vandals looked far more confident and dictated the pace of the game from the outset, gradually taking control of the match. Better execution of their tactical plans and more consistent play allowed them to systematically build up a lead. This, in turn, resulted in a clear 13–7 victory and levelled the series.
The decisive map, Inferno, turned into a full-blown display of Vandals Clan’s strength. The team seized the initiative from the very start and did not allow Fang Esport to find their rhythm, consistently dominating round after round. Excellent control of the game’s tempo and effectiveness in key exchanges meant the map ended in a confident 13–4 victory. Thus, Vandals Clan secured victory in the entire BO3 series and qualified for the LAN.
Qualification for the LAN in Olsztyn
Vandals Clan have finished the qualifiers by securing a place in the Olsztyn Gaming Series LAN finals. They can therefore look forward with optimism to the upcoming challenge at the Urania Hall. Their journey to the offline tournament has shown that the team are capable of dominating weaker opponents, But also to hold their own in tough, closely contested moments against stronger opponents.
The final against Fang Esport, in particular, showcased the team’s character. It might have seemed that losing the first map had disrupted their rhythm. However, quite the opposite was true – it allowed them to raise their concentration to a higher level in the next two maps. If Vandals Clan maintain this form, their performance at the LAN event in Olsztyn could be one of the highlights of the entire tournament.
