Tournaments, and underground ones in particular, often fly by in the blink of an eye. We’ve only just been covering the early stages of the Feather Cup, and now we’re already heading towards the final stages. The quarter-finals are over – we’ll be taking a closer look at them in this article – and, of course, we now know the semi-final pairings and the final four who will battle it out for the title.

Quarter-finals full of excitement
The quarter-final results were not short of surprises. Taking them in order, the Hussars vs Mepo Industries match seemed from the outset to condemn the latter team to a swift defeat and elimination from the tournament. However, as is often the case in the tournaments we cover, things are not always as they seem. We didn’t witness a massive upset, though, as the Hussars won the match, but their rivals put up a very good fight. They managed to win 8 rounds on both maps, thereby showing that, despite being knocked out, they had shown their mettle and could also be dangerous in other tournaments.

The next match turned out to be a clash between two of our partners. Vandals Clan took on Victoria Nostra. This match looked set to be extremely exciting, as both teams are of a fairly similar standard. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see much excitement in this clash, mainly due to the excellent performance of “Vandals Clan”. First, they dominated Ancient with a score of 13:6, and shortly afterwards the same happened on Mirage. Thus, our second partner secured a place in the top four of the autumn edition of the Feather Cup.

The further we went, the more interesting the matches on the horizon became. The match between GV Esports and Ananaski looked just as promising as the others, yet this one too was easily dominated by one of the teams. GV Esports, for it is they we are talking about, started with a strong performance on Nuke, where they managed to secure victory, conceding just 7 points to their opponents, and later on Mirage they completed their work of destruction, this time winning 5-0.

The final quarter-final remained, featuring what were probably the least recognisable teams of all the quarter-finalists, as NoRed took on Sabre Gaming. Who could have expected that the most unassuming match would turn out to be the most exciting? First, NoRed struck on Dust 2, winning it very easily 13:5. Sabre Gaming, however, responded on Inferno, dominating their rivals 13:6. The final map to decide this clash was Ancient. The 24 rounds of regular time were not enough to settle the match, and overtime was required. The first overtime period yielded little result, and after 30 rounds we were again left with a 15-15 draw. However, the subsequent overtime rounds saw a very strong performance from NoRed, who won 4 rounds without conceding a single one to their opponents, thereby winning the map 19-15 and the match 2-1.

The excitement awaiting us in the semi-finals
Ahead of us, of course, are the semi-final pairings, which you can see below. A particularly interesting clash for us will be the match between our two partners in the first semi-final. The Hussars are undoubtedly the favourites, but the Vandals Clan are doing brilliantly as the dark horses and it may well be that the Vandals spring a surprise and find themselves in the grand final. One thing is certain, however: the result and the whole match will be incredibly exciting.
In the second semi-final, meanwhile, we have teams that probably didn’t expect to get this far. Now, however, that they’ve reached this stage, nothing is stopping them from winning the whole tournament. This clash takes place today at 8 pm, so we invite you to follow the Feather Cup’s social media, where the result will certainly be announced.
