Team Fairus dominated the group stage of the ULL league, finishing with an impressive 3–0 record and comfortably securing their place in the knockout stage. There, they progressed to the next round without having to play a match, as their opponents forfeited the fixture. Although the ULL league itself and its organisation have provoked mixed feelings (particularly given the inactivity of Group B), Fairus’s performance has been one of the highlights of the entire tournament.
Group stage under complete control – Fairus show their class
Team Fairus 13:5 NPK | Anubis
The group stage began for Team Fairus with a clash against NPK, who were unable to find an answer to our partners’ well-organised play. Anubis, the opening map of this tournament run, favoured Fairus from the very start. From the very first rounds, it was clear that they were setting the pace, reading their opponents’ rotations better and effectively executing their set plays.
Fairus swiftly dominated the map, consistently winning key duels and preventing NPK from finding their rhythm. Fairus dictated the terms of the game and confidently controlled the match, not allowing their opponents to get into their stride. The 13–5 victory was a strong start to the group stage and a clear signal that the team had entered the league with a specific goal in mind.
Team Fairus 13–9 Slots on Tuesday | Anubis
Team Fairus’s second group stage match was against Slots on Tuesday. The match was once again played on the familiar Anubis map, which gave them a slight comfort advantage from the outset. Following their earlier victory over NPK, the team went into this clash brimming with confidence, and this was evident in their play.
Although Slots on Tuesday put up a tougher fight than their previous opponents, Fairus were not caught off guard. Despite a few closely contested phases of the match and attempts by the opposition to seize the initiative, Fairus maintained control of the game. Good decision-making, sound positioning and flashes of brilliance from key players allowed them to gradually build up a lead. The 13–9 victory did not come easily, but it showed that Fairus can keep their cool even under more demanding conditions.
Team Fairus 13–7 TND | no data
To round off the group stage, Team Fairus faced TND. Although it was the final match and could theoretically have decided the final standings, Fairus did not allow themselves a moment’s lapse in concentration. The team dictated the pace from the outset and effectively secured round after round, building a comfortable lead.
Although the lack of full statistics from this match prevents a detailed analysis of the game’s progress, one thing is certain: the final score of 13:7 speaks for itself. Fairus sealed first place in the group without dropping a single point, finishing this stage with an impressive 3–0 record.
Team Fairus 13–0 Vipra | walkover
The first match of the knockout stage was set to be another test for Fairus, who were drawn against Vipra. Unfortunately, the match never took place; their opponents failed to turn up on the server, resulting in a walkover and an automatic 13–0 victory for Fairus.
Although this latest victory, already in the play-offs, came without any competition on the server and may leave one feeling somewhat unsatisfied, it formally secured Fairus’s progression to the next round. However, the manner in which Fairus progressed through Group A leaves no doubt that they are one of the main favourites for the title.
It is difficult to assess the overall standard of the ULL league unequivocally, particularly given the lack of activity in Group B and the general organisational issues within this community. Nevertheless, Fairus are doing their bit, with full focus, consistency and effectiveness. If they maintain this course, they could go a long way.
