Our partner, Superion Gaming, has qualified for the ARRMY Open league play-offs following an outstanding regular season, in which they suffered just one defeat in 10 matches. The only match they lost was against Constrict Gaming, who showed that you have to stay focused throughout every match and proved that there are teams in the league capable of beating Superion. However, after Superion Gaming secured a strong 6th place, which naturally guaranteed them a place in the play-offs, where promotion to the higher ARRMY Rising league is at stake. Every team competing in the Open league hopes to qualify for this more prestigious closed Rising league.
Superion Gaming did not have the opportunity to play in the first round of the playoffs because, strangely enough, their opponents failed to turn up for the match and a walkover was awarded. Superion then had the opportunity to play against the ATHERIS organisation, with the results on the individual maps as follows:
6
:13
Nuke
13
:4
Abubis
13
:4
Mirage
Despite losing the first map, where they struggled to get a foothold against their opponents, the players managed to pull themselves together for the next two and crush ATHERIS with a final map score of 2:1, thereby qualifying for the next round. Round 3 also turned out to be a non-event for the players, as this is the second match in the play-offs in which Superion have been awarded a walkover; they have yet to play a match in Round 4, which is the promotion round for the ARRMY Rising league. As stated in the ARRMY league rules, the top 8 teams from the play-offs will compete in next season’s ARRMY Rising, and Round 4 is the final round before the quarter-finals, in which these 8 teams will face off with a guaranteed place in the Rising league for the next season.
Let’s hope that Round 4 against Drain Gang, which takes place on 18 August at 7.30 pm, will be just as positive as it has been so far.
