Yesterday saw the qualifiers for the Cyber Spring Cup, a tournament whose LAN finals are just two weeks away, with a prize pool of 22,000 zlotys. One of our partners taking part in the qualifiers was Constrict Gaming. To make it to the LAN event, they had to win three matches without a single defeat. Did Constrict ultimately succeed?
Will Constrict Gaming be playing at the LAN event?
In the first match, our partner was lucky enough to receive a walkover. They obviously had to play the second match, and their opponents were the Haspers team. The squad included players who had previously played professionally, such as klameczka and tudson.
The first map turned out to be Inferno, won by our partner. The pistol round and the round that followed went to the team with the snake in their logo. Later, the opponents struck back with a bang, drawing 2-2 and then even leading 3-2. However, the clash became even more fiercely contested, and we watched round-for-round exchanges until the score reached 4:4. After that, however, the team of ex-pro players won three rounds, ending the first half with a 7:5 lead.
In the second half, they had no intention of slowing down and, after winning the pistol round, led 9-5. Constrict added just one round to their tally by the end of the map, and the map chosen by our partner ended in a 6-13 defeat for them.
Things didn’t start too well on the second map chosen by Haspers. A lost pistol round and a failed force buy saw the opponents take a 3-0 lead. The first full round and those that followed proved enough to level the score. We then saw a round-by-round battle, which ended with the team led by klameczka taking a 7-4 lead. Constrict took the final round, and the half ended 7-5.
The opponents didn’t stop there and, just like on the first map, took the score to 9-5. Despite this, Constrict made a comeback attempt, which almost succeeded at 10-9. Ultimately, they couldn’t manage a draw, and the opponents won the second map 13-10 and the entire match 2-0. Our partner will ultimately not be appearing at the LAN event in Krakow and will have to make do without the victory.
