Gloris eSports recently decided to promote a new squad to its main roster and move the previous one to the academy. On 1 July, we saw the first change to the main roster, which involved a move between the academy and the main squad. Currently, in the underground scene, second squads are often referred to as academies, from which players cannot be promoted to the main team. Our partner shows that it is running a proper academy, where players train before moving up to the next level.
Kotson has left the main team, with Dappy taking his place. In a Twitter post, the organisation notes that this change had been planned for some time, though they do not specify the exact reason. Following the change, the new squad has already played its first two matches in the 13th season of Army Rising, and they have fared quite well.

How did Gloris eSports fare after the changes? Gloris eSports vs T Side Abusers
The first match for the main Gloris squad following the changes was against T Side Abusers in the Arrmy Rising league. These were no ordinary opponents, as they have been actively competing in the Rising league for several seasons now, though they have yet to secure promotion to the Masters division. The match took place on the de_ancient map, with our partner starting on the CT side. From the outset, the Gloris eSports players showed that this would be no easy ride for their opponents, winning the pistol round and the anti-eco round to take an early 2-0 lead. Their rivals responded, but with just one round, to which our partner immediately replied. Despite this, the T Side Abusers players did not give up and added two more rounds, bringing the score to 4:3. From that point on, however, Gloris took the initiative and won all the remaining rounds until the end of the half, giving themselves a 9-3 lead. The second half was much the same as the end of the first, and our partner won the match 13-3, with our debutant finishing with a 12-10 record.

The next match in the battle for a better record for Arrma Rising! Gloris eSports vs Horizon Youngsters
The second match of the day for our partner was a clash against the Horizon Esports academy. The map was Anubis, one of Gloris’s strongest maps. They started on the TT side, so to stand a chance of winning, they needed to finish the first half with a significant lead. However, the start was not kind, as they lost the pistol round, followed by a failed force buy, leaving the opposing team leading 3-0. Fortunately, as soon as funds for better weapons became available, Gloris eSports quickly levelled the score at 3-3. The opponents regained the lead, but not for long, as we saw another draw, this time at 4-4. After two draws, our team finally took the lead, even going 6-4 up; although the end of the first half didn’t go too well, Gloris still finished it with a 7-5 lead.
In the second half, our favourites won the pistol round, but they were unable to capitalise on this run of form, as the opponents won the force round and quickly levelled the score at 8-8. From that point on, Gloris eSports had to start winning, though this was no easy task for the defending side. They managed to win two rounds and take the score to 11-8, but their opponents’ fighting spirit was very strong and it was Horizon who ultimately won the match, not conceding a single further round to our partner. As a result, Gloris have a 1-1 record after their first two matches and still need to win quite a few more to secure their promotion to the prestigious Masters league.
