Team Fairus played two matches yesterday in the group stage of the Feather Cup: Autumn Edition. The group stage consists of four groups, each containing six teams, with the top four from each group advancing to the play-offs. Did Team Fairus move closer to the next stage of the tournament with these two matches? Yes and no.
Group D
Our partner was drawn into Group D, alongside teams such as Pirtus.Vro, Ignis Five, Vyce Clan, Golden 5 and Infinitis e-Sports.
First match and first win…
We would like to say “Team Fairus played their first match in the Feather Cup…”, but unfortunately we cannot. In the match against Infinitis e-Sports, our partner’s opponents did not show up on the server, meaning our partner won their first match by walkover.
A clash with the top five
Not the one you’re thinking of. Group D features the “Golden 5”, who have taken a tiny step towards becoming the golden five. The match was played on Ancient, which has recently been dominating the underground scene, or at least did so in the Immunity League: Return qualifiers. It was likely a fairly even contest, though I must admit I didn’t watch the match. Team Fairus lost 11–13.
It is difficult at this stage to draw any conclusions about potential qualification for the play-offs, especially as Team Fairus is the only team in the tournament to have played two matches so far. Each team will play five matches, so two matches do not yet have a decisive impact on qualification (from 2nd, 3rd or 4th place).
Upcoming matches
Each match date is agreed upon by both captains, so we will probably have to wait a little while for the dates of our partner’s upcoming matches.
