Armitra: Jaster is leaving

- -

Another week of competition for Armitra Esports in the 52nd season of ESEA Intermediate has come to an end. Early in the week, the organisation announced that one of their players was leaving the squad. On Monday 27 January, Jaster left the squad; according to reports, he has moved to the ESC Gaming academy. Unfortunately for the players, they end the week with a 2:4 record, which may scupper their chances of promotion to a higher division.

Matches in ESEA Intermediate

  • Back2Back 13:7 Armitra Esports, Anubis

Despite Jaster’s absence, the matches had already been scheduled. The first of these, played on Tuesday 28 January against the Russian team Back2Back on the Anubis map, was unfortunately lost with a score of 13:7 to the Russians. Another defeat on this map was most likely down to a lack of time for preparation and a more thorough discussion of tactics and mistakes made. Nevertheless, they put up more of a fight that day than they did against CHAOX a week ago.

The rounds were incredibly close. Armitra’s players started on the defensive side, which is the more difficult side on this map, yet they finished the first half with a score of 8–4, which is an excellent lead to build on when switching to the terrorist side. Problems arose as early as the pistol round; the attackers took a 5-3 lead, but Rudi and Piku quickly levelled the score and even took a 2-3 lead. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough, and LifeSTYLE closed out the round with a 1-on-2 clutch.

Despite some very close rounds and an incredibly chaotic 7th round, where Zireael played aggressively on Main B, the Back2Back players killed one of their own, with Piku securing a posthumous kill amidst the flames and a 1-on-1 clutch by Pr3lo and Dax. But it was Pr3lo who had to concede to a better-equipped opponent, resulting in a disappointing 7–0 start to the match.

It was at this point, however, that the Armitra Esports players began to win rounds. First, the counter-terrorists calmly took two rounds, followed by a response from the attacking team, before the CTs secured another two, ending the half with a score of 8:4.

The start of the second half, however, wasn’t as rosy as one might have thought, with a lost pistol round and the first full round, bringing the score to 11:4. Then we managed to win an eco round and another full round, meaning the opposition had to play with pistols. We also managed to win that round, bringing the score to 11–7. The opponents were forced to play with inferior gear, but that didn’t stop them from closing out the entire map with a score of 13:7.

  • Armitra Esports 13–5 pulkahs, Mirage

The second match of the week took place on Thursday 30 January on the Mirage map against the Swedish team pulkahs. It was an incredibly thrilling encounter; despite a few close rounds, the match was comfortably won by the Armitra players. Their consistent dominance in the early stages of the match, whilst on the attacking side, allowed them to close out the first half with a score of 10–2.

It wasn’t without its problems, however. After a brilliant start, leading 5–0, came round 6, where, despite an initial 5–3 advantage, Balbin quickly equalised, and LokalLeffe left Zira in a 1-on-3 clutch. Despite a brilliant clutch from Zireael and levelling the situation to 1-on-1, he ultimately fell, and the counter-terrorists secured their first round. After this round, the defending team, despite numerous losses and a very evenly matched round, secured their second point and retained the AWP. However, this proved to be of no use to them, and round 8 fell to the Armitra players.

Next came round 9, an economic round for Pulkahs, which the terrorist team won despite some minor issues. By the end of the half, the Armitra Esports team had not conceded a single round to their opponents and finished it with a score of 10:2.

After the side switch, they failed to secure another pistol round, and in the second round – having decided to force the site – there were quick eliminations, leaving a 2-on-2 situation which Pr3lo closed out. The score stood at 11–3, the terrorists had a force round, featuring better pistols and a single Galil; the decision was made to push to bombsite B, but the anti-terrorists were prepared there and the round was closed out extremely quickly, leaving Armitra with nine match points.

The pulkahs team once again had only better pistols and made a quick push on A, which resulted in an easy elimination. However, excessive aggression in the mid-lane led to a 2-on-2 situation, which the defending team unfortunately lost, resulting in a shortage of equipment; consequently, the next round went to the attacking team. Round 18: the CT side were short of funds, with only basic pistols and a single Famas remaining, but this did not prevent Armitra from closing out the map with a score of 13–5.

Armitra’s upcoming matches

  • Tuesday, 4 February 2025, Hummingbird
  • Thursday, 6 February 2025, MVP Cyber Team

Next week, Armitry will face Russian teams, specifically Hummingbird and MVP Cyber Team. These are likely to be closely contested matches, so there’s sure to be plenty of excitement. Let’s hope that by then the organisation will have managed to find a replacement for Jaster and will have prepared new tactics, especially for the Anubis map, which they’ve been struggling with recently.
