Last week, we reported on POLteam’s campaign in the Arrmy Open. At that point, they had managed to achieve a 2–0 record after two matches and were well on their way to the play-offs, and subsequently to promotion to the division above. After this week, they’re now halfway through the regular season and things aren’t going too badly for them. Their opponents in their most recent matches were: Power Esports, StylFrancuski and Sierra Leone.
Did Power get the better of our partner?
As I mentioned earlier, their first opponent was Power Esports. This is their third consecutive season in the Open league, but in the previous two they failed to even secure a play-off spot. As a result, our partner went into this match as favourites, which is sometimes an advantage and sometimes a disadvantage. The problem, however, is that POLteam didn’t even have to play to win this match, as their opponents failed to turn up at the agreed time. Thus, our favourites effortlessly added a third win to their record.

Was it harder to play against opponents using the French style?
The next match, which has now taken place, was a clash with StyleFrancuski on the Polish map, which is undoubtedly Mirage. Our rivals went into this match with a 4:0 record, which was a major advantage for them. However, what looks good on paper doesn’t always translate to the game. Our partner got off to a flying start, and surprisingly, these strong opponents were unable to put up any sustained resistance. In the end, POLteam completely dominated the match, conceding just three rounds to StylFrancuski. This clearly demonstrated just how in form our partner’s players are and that they are clear contenders for promotion this season.

Sierra Leone – where is that?
Our partner’s latest opponent so far has been the Sierra Leone team. They’re no pushovers either, as they went into this match with a 3:1 record. Just like in the match above, appearances can be deceiving. We saw a similar scenario here too; POLteam started by winning the pistol round, after which their opponents put up some resistance. However, this wasn’t the sort of pressure our partner couldn’t withstand, and so the Nexium-sponsored team crushed their opponents, winning by a score of 13–0. They thus added a fifth win to their tally, whilst remaining unbeaten. This has put them in a very comfortable position for the rest of the season; namely, they now need just two more wins to secure their place in the play-offs.
