The group stage of the Ascent Legacy Series is slowly drawing to a close, and the battle for qualification is still proving to be quite thrilling. NPK Esport was also among the participants, fielding two squads for the competition. This time, however, reality proved unforgiving… Both teams saw their journey come to an end at this stage. How did NPK Esport’s main squad fare?
NPK Esport 5:13 Gromaz Esport | Train
NPK Esport’s first opponent in the group stage was Gromaz Esport. The match, played on the Train map, quickly showed that the opponents were better suited to this clash. Gromaz controlled the match from start to finish, and the NPK players struggled to find a way to break through their defence. The final score of 5:13 left no room for doubt and clearly highlighted Gromaz Esport’s superiority in this match.
NPK Esport 0:2 Ananaski
5:13 | Ancient
In the lower bracket match, NPK Esport faced off against Ananaski, with Ancient as the first map. Here, the opponents set the pace from the start and consistently extended their lead. NPK tried to put up a fight, but Ananaski’s effectiveness was clearly superior, resulting in a final score of 5:13.
3:13 | Overpass
The second and decisive map of the series was Overpass, where the situation looked even more difficult for NPK. Ananaski dominated the match almost from the very first rounds, leaving little chance of a comeback. The 3:13 result sealed the rivals’ victory and thus ended NPK Esport’s main squad’s participation in the tournament.
Did the second squad fare any better?
NPK II 5-13 VoFoxen Rising | Ancient
NPK Esport’s second squad began their campaign with a clash against VoFoxen Rising. From the outset, it was clear that the match on the Ancient map was dictated by the opponents, who imposed their own pace of play and consistently extended their lead. The NPK II players tried to respond, but they were unable to turn the match around. Ultimately, the 5:13 result sealed their defeat and sent the team down to the lower bracket.
NPK II 2:0 2HeaveN
2x [1:0 | walkover]
In the lower bracket, NPK II were drawn against 2HeaveN, but the match never actually took place. Their opponents withdrew from further competition, which meant a walkover and an automatic 2-0 victory for NPK Esport. As a result, the second squad extended their stay in the tournament and advanced to the next stage of the lower bracket.
NPK II 0-2 Zero Pomysłu
7:13 | Nuke
In the next lower bracket match, NPK II faced off against Zero Pomysłu. The series began on Nuke, where the opponents set the pace from the very first rounds and made good use of their strengths. NPK’s second squad tried to respond and make a comeback, but the opponents’ superiority was evident throughout much of the match. The final score of 7:13 saw Zero Pomysłu take the lead in the series and move one step closer to victory.
8:13 | Dust 2
The decider came on Dust 2, which still offered hope of extending the contest. This time, the game was more evenly matched, and NPK II managed to secure crucial rounds and stay in touch with their opponents. However, as time went on, their opponents’ experience and efficiency began to make the difference… Zero Pomysłu handled key moments better and consistently extended their lead. The 8:13 result sealed NPK II’s defeat and, with it, ended the second squad’s participation in the tournament.
End of the ALS adventure
Neither the main squad nor the second team of NPK Esport managed to get through the group stage of the Ascent Legacy Series. Despite putting up a spirited fight in several matches, the results did not allow them to progress further. For the organisation as a whole, however, this is certainly a valuable experience that may pay dividends in future tournaments.
