It’s been a while since we last checked in on how our partners are getting on in the ESEA competitions. So far, we’ve only introduced the teams and the divisions they’re competing in, but now it’s time to get down to specifics. First up is Superion Gaming, who have already played seven matches in the Main division. It has to be said that the team’s start to the season looks quite promising. Although it hasn’t been without a few stumbles.
Superion have shown character and proved that they are capable of competing on equal terms with tough opponents. One match in particular stands out. We’re talking about the clash in the second round, which provided fans with a real thrill and only ended after a series of extra time periods. It is precisely matches like these that best showcase the team’s potential… Mental resilience, the ability to adapt, and fighting right to the very end. Superion Gaming has already faced several major tests, and although the season is still underway, the coming weeks of competition give cause for optimism.
A thrilling start and a marathon on Mirage
Superion Gaming’s first two matches brought mixed feelings, but at the same time showed that the team is capable of learning from its mistakes and bouncing back quickly. To kick things off, they faced the British side Sosban Fach on Overpass. The match ended 9–13, suggesting that the opposition controlled the flow of the game, although Superion were not entirely without a chance and were able to put up a fight at times.
However, the next clash proved far more thrilling… This time against the Finnish side Rcave on Mirage. It was by far the most challenging match the team had faced so far. Both teams were neck and neck, not allowing their opponent to build a clear lead. Regular playing time was not enough to decide the winner, and the fans witnessed a real marathon.
Overtime followed overtime, and the tension mounted with every round. At times like these, concentration and mental resilience prove crucial. Superion Gaming withstood this test and ultimately tipped the scales in their favour, winning 22–20. A triumph of this kind not only yields valuable points but also boosts the team’s morale for the rest of the season.
A winning streak and Superion Gaming finding their rhythm
After a thrilling start to the season, Superion Gaming got back on track, recording a run of three consecutive victories. The first step was a clash with the Finnish side INCEPTOR on the Nuke map. The match ended 13–7, indicating a fairly controlled performance and good form from our team. Superion managed to dictate the pace of the game and maintain their lead right until the very end. The next match, however, did not take place in the usual format. The Polish team DZIADGI forfeited the match, which meant another victory was quickly added to Superion Gaming’s tally. Although such outcomes are not as satisfying as wins on the server, they are just as important in terms of the league table.
The winning streak was capped off by a clash with the Finnish side EK CSKeisari on Mirage. This time, Superion left their opponents in no doubt, winning convincingly 13–4. It was a match in which the team clearly dominated, both tactically and individually. Matches like this show that when everything is clicking, Superion Gaming can be a very formidable force. Three consecutive victories have allowed the team to find their rhythm and significantly improve their position in the table, laying solid foundations for the coming weeks of competition.
A tougher spell and a run of defeats
Unfortunately, following a good run, there was also a slight dip in form. Superion Gaming had to contend with a less successful period, which began with a walkover conceded to the Romanian side Insiders Esport. Situations like this are always problematic… Not playing a match means not only a loss of points but also a loss of match rhythm. The next match only exacerbated the team’s difficulties. In their clash with the German side EsportBERG on the Nuke map, Superion were clearly dominated, losing 1–13. The result speaks for itself. The opponents dictated the terms from the outset and didn’t allow our team to find their feet. Such one-sided matches are often the result of many factors… From the team’s form on the day, through tactical preparation, to mental aspects. Whatever the reasons, it was a painful lesson for Superion Gaming, one which may, however, pay dividends in the future.
Superion Gaming has potential; what matters now is consistency
After seven matches, Superion Gaming has had a very inconsistent, yet promising, start to the season in ESEA Main. The team has shown that it can win tough matches – the marathon against Rcave being the best example of this – but also that it is capable of dominating weaker opponents. On the other hand, there have also been problems – both in the form of walkovers and a painful defeat to EsportBERG. The key to the rest of the season will therefore be to stabilise their form and avoid similar slip-ups. If Superion Gaming can maintain their focus and return to the form they showed during their winning streak, they could still cause quite a stir in their division. The season is still underway, and the team faces further challenges and opportunities to improve their record.
