As you’re no doubt aware, the current ESEA season is really picking up pace… So it’s high time we took a closer look at how our partners are faring in these competitions. We’re therefore turning our attention to the Open and Entry divisions, where both Polish teams and one foreign representative are competing. After nine matches played, a clearer picture of each team’s form is beginning to emerge. We’re seeing the first winning streaks, but also moments of weakness that could prove decisive in the end. Every map, every round and every point scored brings the teams closer to achieving their goals, so it’s worth checking who’s currently on the right track and who still needs to work on their game.
ESEA Open – the battle for consistency and a breakthrough
Competition in the ESEA Open division is traditionally of a high standard, and the rivalry is extremely close. Even minor mistakes can decide the outcome of a match, as is clearly evident from our partners’ results. Both Panico eSports and Carpathian Roja have played nine matches, which showcase their potential but also reveal a certain lack of consistency. At this stage of the season, it is crucial to maintain form and avoid needless losses of points – particularly in matches against direct rivals in the table. Every victory could prove to be worth its weight in gold, which is why the end of the season promises to be incredibly exciting.
Panico eSports
Panico eSports, the only foreign team in this line-up, are performing solidly, with a 5–4 record. Their season has been a mix of convincing victories and a few painful defeats, which were often very close affairs. Right from the start, they faced a tough opponent in CossacS Team, losing 2–13, which may have shaken their confidence somewhat. Their next match against NPC Squad also ended in defeat. This time, however, it was a narrow 11–13 defeat, showing that the team is not far off winning such clashes.
As time went on, however, Panico began to find their rhythm. Victories over Relic Esports and HellRaiders proved that the team can control the flow of a match and close out games effectively. Two walkovers also helped to boost their points tally. However, this does not change the fact that the team must rely primarily on their own performance. Defeats to AMS and CSOWY Uniwersytet once again highlighted a lack of consistency, though they have had the upper hand in the closing stages so far. The 13–7 win over Pleasant Stroke is a sign that their form could be on the up. If Panico can improve their finishing in tight finishes, they could still cause quite a stir in the table.
Carpathian Roja
Carpathian Roja, with a 4–5 record, have been somewhat more inconsistent, but they’ve also put in a few really solid performances. The start of the season was difficult… A 9–13 defeat to Fate and subsequent losses showed that the team needed time to find their rhythm. A walkover victory gave them some breathing space, followed by more encouraging results. A 13–11 win over Team of Doom and Despair and an extremely close 16–14 victory against Pelra Esport showed that Carpathian Roja can perform under pressure and win close matches.
Unfortunately, subsequent matches saw a dip in form. Defeats to XRoc Junior, Undertale and Afflicted point to problems with maintaining their standard. Fortunately, their recent 13–10 victory over KOCURY could prove to be a turning point for them. If Carpathian Roja can find a way to stabilise their play and minimise their weaknesses on certain maps, they still have a chance of finishing the season on a high.
ESEA Entry – solid results and a battle for the top
In the ESEA Entry division, our partners are performing really well, and their results give cause for optimism. Both Lunacy Gaming and PEST Esport are showing that they have the potential to compete for the top spots. Consistency is key in this league. Teams that can string together a series of wins quickly build a lead over the rest of the field. Nine matches played is already a solid sample size, allowing us to assess the teams’ form. In the case of our partners, it’s clear that they can dominate weaker opponents, but they do occasionally slip up in tougher matches. The end of the season will therefore be a test of their maturity and their ability to maintain a high standard.
Lunacy Gaming
Lunacy Gaming can certainly be pleased with their 6–3 record. The team started the season in fine style, racking up a series of convincing victories. Wins of 13–2 against FORSAZH NIGHT and 13–4 against Potential CS clearly demonstrate that the team is capable of dominating its opponents. Further victories over Spryzen Team and UBITEAM, as well as a walkover against ONLY GAMERS, only served to confirm their fine form. Lunacy presented themselves as a well-organised, effective team, confident in their abilities.
Problems arose in the second half of their matches. Defeats to Prius and LYNX x ROC showed that the team still has work to do, particularly when facing better-organised opponents. Despite this, Lunacy got back on track with a 13–6 victory over eternal. Their most recent 9–13 defeat to Ira Draconis was a closely fought contest, demonstrating that the team remains competitive.
PEST Esport
With a 5–4 record, PEST Esport are proving to be an unpredictable team, but a threat to any opponent. Their start to the season was not a successful one. Defeats of 3–13 against KLG and 10–13 against Czokapiki might have suggested they were struggling to find their feet in the competition. However, a turnaround came quickly. A dominant 13–2 victory over Headshot HolyGuns marked the start of a better run, which was bolstered by a bye round and further wins… 16–13 against ZycieZastepcze and 16–12 against KANNGU RED. These results show that PEST are capable of winning long and demanding matches.
The subsequent matches, however, saw another dip in form… A 13–16 defeat to WMYRD9K-CIS, a 13–11 victory over Thunder Bachkory and a 6–13 loss to GLAZE. What’s missing here is the consistency that could take the team to an even higher level. Nevertheless, PEST Esport has solid foundations and, if it improves the consistency of its performances, it could still contend for the top spots.
The decisive phase of the ESEA is drawing ever closer
After nine rounds, the situation for our partners looks promising, though there is no shortage of challenges. In the Open division, both Panico eSports and Carpathian Roja need to work on their consistency if they are to aim for higher positions. Meanwhile, in the Entry division, Lunacy Gaming and PEST Esport are showing the potential to challenge for the top spots, but maintaining their form right through to the end of the season will be key. One thing is certain… There’s still plenty of excitement to come, and every subsequent match could have a significant impact on the final league table.
