Nexium make a strong start to the Arrmy OPEN S13 knockout stage
Following a phenomenal performance in the regular season, Nexium POLteam entered the Arrmy OPEN S13 play-offs with a clear objective – to prove that their form is not just a flash in the pan, but a well-thought-out, consistent dominance. The first two matches of this stage only served to reinforce fans’ belief that the team is in superb form. Against both Team Connectivity (3 August) and Homies in Pajamas (8 August), Nexium’s players won 2–0, leaving their opponents with no illusions.
First step: a confident victory over Team Connectivity
The match against Team Connectivity kicked off on 3 August at 7.30 pm. Right from the opening rounds, it was clear that Nexium had entered the server fully focused and with a clear game plan. On Ancient, the home side dictated the pace, aggressively controlling key points on the map. Flawless communication and quick decision-making meant their opponents struggled to secure clean entries onto the buy-sides. Swetthy- and -vzs demonstrated not only their marksmanship but also a huge influence on the pace of the game, which resulted in a significant frag difference and a comfortable victory for Nexium.
The second map – Mirage – confirmed their dominance. This time, lightning-fast rotations and skilful reading of the opponent’s play by dvnio2k and xSaqe allowed them to neutralise every attempt at an attack. Viewers watching the broadcast may well have got the impression that Nexium were always one step ahead of their opponents. The 2–0 result paved the way for them to the next stage.
Second test: Homies in Pajamas find no answer to Nexium POLteam
Five days later, on 8 August at 20:45, Nexium POLteam faced their next challenge – Homies in Pajamas. Although their rivals tried their very best, they came up against an insurmountable wall that evening. On the first map, Nexium effectively stifled any attempts at aggression, whilst the duo of swetthy and xSaqe once again shone at crucial moments, breaking the opponents’ economy in the decisive rounds.
The second map followed a similar pattern – the game remained evenly balanced only for the first few rounds, after which Nexium took full control of the match. Pasiiu, though usually overshadowed by his teammates’ sniping exploits, saved rounds on several occasions in 1vX situations during this match, boosting the team’s morale and cementing their lead. The final score of 2:0 was a natural culmination of a dominant performance.
The style that makes the difference
What sets Nexium POLteam apart in these play-offs is not only the players’ individual skills, but above all their team cohesion and adaptability. They are able to flexibly change the pace of the game, utilising both aggression and patient map control. Each player brings something unique to the table. Nexium POLteam face their next challenge very soon. On 13 August at 8.00 pm, they will face Gloris AC, a team that has managed to surprise more than a few opponents this season. This match promises to be a test not only of Nexium’s shooting skills but also of their tactical flexibility. Fans are hoping that the team’s winning streak from the first playoff matches will continue, and that they’ll manage to add another convincing victory to their record.
