From the start of Season 2 of the Amateur Server League, Constrict Gaming were tipped as favourites to win the season. They made it through the group stage without a single defeat, and in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, they were nowhere near suffering a defeat. The final, unusually for this level, was played in a BO5 format, which treated us to a spectacle spanning at least three maps.
The battle for the ALS S2 title – Constrict Gaming vs YSN
The clash began on a map chosen by Constrict Gaming. It turned out to be de_nuke, a map on which our partner feels very much at home and often picks first. This time was no different. The map was selected and it was time for the match. The only problem was that the map had barely started when Constrict had already won it 13–1.

The second map, however, was a completely different story, as here we saw a battle for victory right down to the final rounds. The map was de_anubis. The contest was fiercely contested; the scoreboard showed a draw for almost the entire match, and right up until the final rounds it was unclear who would claim the second map. In the final rounds, however, YSN tipped the balance in their favour, bringing the map score to 1:1.

Next, we moved back to our partner’s pick, this time de_inferno. This was undoubtedly Constrict’s second-favourite map, as the score clearly demonstrated. With the score at 2:0, YSN won a single round and it already seemed as though we wouldn’t see a repeat of the scenario from the first map of this clash, but our partner left no room for doubt and won the map, conceding just two rounds to their opponents.

Moving on to the next map, which was theoretically chosen by the opponents, but under this map rotation system, the remaining maps must be played regardless of bans. With the score at 2:0 to Constrict, YSN won a round and were on the verge of a draw, but our partner wouldn’t let that happen, and we saw a quick 10:1 lead. YSN managed to pick up one more round before the end of the first half, but in the second half there was nothing left to play for, as Constrict Gaming easily wrapped up the map 13:2 and, with it, the entire match 3:1.
