DR Esports wins the ‘Nasze Rewiry Championship #6’

- -

DR Esports is our newest partner, and whilst they don’t compete in tournaments very often, when they do, they’re successful. We recently reported on how they managed to reach the semi-finals of the Nasze Rewiry Championship (read the article HERE). We now know how that tournament played out right to the very end, and we’ll be bringing you all the details.

Semi-final – DR Esports vs Jagdgeschwader 52

In the semi-final, their opponents turned out to be a team from a slightly lower tier than our partner’s main squad, as their line-up included, amongst others, players at Faceit levels 6 or 7, whereas, by contrast, our partner’s squad consists entirely of level 10 players. The match looked set to be an easy one, but you never know how things will turn out. We started on the Nuke map, chosen by DR Esports. However, our opponents started by winning the pistol round and quickly took a 2–0 lead. They didn’t stop there, though, and immediately added three more rounds, putting our partner in a really difficult position. They fought back at that point, but only once, allowing our opponents to regain a 5-point lead, this time at 6–1. The tide began to turn thanks to a run of four consecutive rounds won, but even that couldn’t last too long. At the end of the first half, Jagdgeschwader 52 won a round, and the first half ended with a score of 7–5.

Our partner’s opponents once again started the second half by winning the pistol round, but our partner responded immediately, levelling the score at 8–8. Round after round followed, and straight after that the opposing team took a 12–9 lead. Despite this, our partner managed to fight back on this map and ultimately secure victory by crushing the opposition in overtime, winning 16–12.

The second map was Mirage, selected by the opposing team. Our partner started on the defending side, which allowed them to get off to a very good start on the second map. However, this wasn’t to be, as it was the opponents who took an early 2:0 lead; DR Esports responded, but a single round didn’t change much, and the opponents began to build momentum. This run resulted in a 11–1 lead at half-time, and our partner once again had to play catch-up.

They also found their momentum, and thanks to this, they closed the gap to just 5 rounds in the second half. Nevertheless, the opponents did not relinquish such a massive lead, and the second map went their way with a score of 13–7, which took us to the deciding map – Anubis.

The final, decisive map lay ahead of us, determining who would reach the final and compete for the tournament title. Jagdgeschwader 52 started by winning the pistol round on the CT side, but DR Esports, just as on the previous map, broke that run with a force-round victory, putting them 3–1 ahead at the start of the deciding map. Their opponents fought back, but despite this, our partner went on a very strong run, winning seven rounds in a row to take a 10–2 lead at half-time. This put them just three rounds away from securing their place in the final.

However, no one said those steps would be easy. The opponents won their second pistol round on this map, thereby beginning a comeback that saw them close the gap to just 5 points behind our partner. Our partner, however, won one round and was now just two points away from victory. Jagdgeschwader 52 fought back with a single round, but it was to no avail, as DR Esports ultimately won 13–6 to secure their place in the grand final.

Grand Final – DR Esports vs Baguettes

In the final, our partner faced off against Baguettes – the name might be misleading, but the team is a Polish mixed squad made up of Faceit Level 10 players and they are a formidable opponent. The match began on the Anubis map, chosen by Baguettes. DR Esports started on the attacking side and managed to win the pistol round, taking an early 2–0 lead. They quickly extended this lead to 4–0, and it already looked as though they might wrap up the match in two maps, but then their opponents woke up. They won every round until the end of the first half and went into the second half leading 8–4.

At the start of the second half, our partner secured a pistol round victory, but it made virtually no difference, as the opponents broke through with a force buy and finished the map 13–5, thereby taking a 1–0 lead in the BO3.

The second map, as always, was Nuke, chosen by our partner. They’d faced quite a few problems on it in the semi-finals, but this is a completely different match and perhaps victory would come more easily. It began, however, with the opponents leading 2–0 and looking set to extend their lead. DR Esports snapped out of it quite quickly and, as a result, soon levelled the score at 3–3. They didn’t stop there and, despite the odd defeat, managed to go on a run that gave them an 8–4 lead at half-time.

The second half got off to a very unfortunate start for them, as they lost the pistol round, followed by a failed force buy, allowing Baguettes to close the gap to just one point behind our partner. However, when it came to the full-round duels, DR Esports were in a league of their own and won their home map 13–7, taking us to the decisive Mirage.

Mirage became the deciding map, where our partner had been fairly easily defeated by their opponents in the semi-final. Nevertheless, here the match went down to the wire. The first half didn’t start well, as usual, with the pistol round lost, and the force buy immediately afterwards ending in failure, leaving us facing a quick 3–0 lead for the opponents. Unfortunately, this lead steadily grew, and at the best of times for Baguettes, they were trailing 6–1. From that point on, DR Esports began winning rounds, though this run unfortunately came to a swift end, just as the entire half did, which was lost 4–8.

However, this was the more difficult half on this map, and it was the second half that would show us who would prove the better side. Fortunately, we managed to win the pistol round, and, building on that momentum, our partner brought the score level at 9–9 by the 18th round. They didn’t stop there, and after another two rounds, they took an 11:9 lead. Our opponents fought back, but at that point our partner secured the 12th point and, after losing just one round, closed out the map 13–11 and the match 2–1, thereby winning Season 6 of the Nasze Rewiry Championship.
