We are slowly approaching the play-offs of the 54th ESEA season, and the first matches in the Entry Division kick off today. So let’s take a look at how our partners fared in the regular season. Who has paved their way to the playoffs, and who has had to bid farewell to their dreams of promotion? At this level of competition, we watched the struggles of as many as six of our partners, of whom, unfortunately, one team did not make it through to the next stage. So how did each team fare? Do the results so far inspire optimism, or do they rather herald a swift exit from the knockout stage?
A season full of excitement – our partners in ESEA Entry
Young Stars Academy
- 10:13 vs Nemo Tactics
- 13:5 vs INPUT eSports
- 5:13 vs AOBA JOHSAI
- 13:8 vs SkinFlip
- 12:16 vs VZ_TEAM
- 13:10 vs BEZ4ITA
- 13:11 vs Erciyes Wolves
- 13:10 vs Tropic Thunder
- 0:1 vs EmiliaTopWaifu
- 13:11 vs NPC
- 13:7 vs Zentrix Nova
- 20:22 vs PPG Clan
- 3:13 vs ViBe Gaming
- 13:7 vs bolidy marsona
The Young Stars Academy season can be described as solid, though it was not without its tense moments. The team’s form fluctuated, as they were capable of thrashing INPUT eSports or bolidy marsona, but there were also painful defeats, such as the 3:13 loss to ViBe Gaming or the 5:13 defeat by AOBA JOHSAI.
The YS Academy’s greatest strength proved to be its ability to win close matches. Fierce matches against Erciyes Wolves, Tropic Thunder and NPC showed that the team can keep a cool head in decisive rounds. There was no shortage of drama either, such as the match against PPG Clan, which only ended after extra time and, unfortunately, a 20–22 defeat.
Ultimately, Young Stars Academy secured a place in the B playoff bracket with an 8–6 record, finishing in 119th–120th place. The style in which they achieved this gives hope for further success, and their first test comes today, when they face Werty AC Scar. If they can maintain their focus at the crucial moments, they may spring a few more surprises.
VoFoxen Esport
- 13:8 vs Camping Kitchen
- 13:16 vs FiveViewersMax
- 11:13 vs euphoria
- 9:13 vs FChrza
- 13:4 vs SURGE
- 7:13 vs TPO Esports
- 13:5 vs MonKe
- 13:10 vs Wazzup
- 11:13 vs SuperStarTeam
- 13:6 vs Furduverk
- 13:11 vs TRUST_TEAM
- 0:1 vs Lucky2up
- 15:19 vs GiP
- 1:0 vs OnlyBaitGaming
VoFoxen Esport has had a season full of ups and downs. The team was able to put in very strong performances against rivals of a similar calibre, as demonstrated by convincing victories over SURGE, MonKe and Furduverk. At the same time, there were plenty of matches where they failed to keep their cool. And defeats following closely contested matches against euphoria, SuperStarTeam and GiP showed that the team’s biggest problem was often how they finished games.
Despite this, VoFoxen proved they are not afraid to play under pressure. An important victory over TRUST_TEAM and a solid performance against Wazzup gave them the crucial points in the table. The season could have been even better, but a 7–7 record and 186th–187th place proved sufficient to secure a place in the playoffs.
Ultimately, the Foxes found themselves in Bracket B, where they will play their first match against No Mercy today. If they learn from the difficult matches of the regular season, they could be a dangerous opponent for anyone.
ViBe Gaming
- 10:13 vs Athlon
- 13:11 vs ooh team
- 1:0 vs MAXIDOGS
- 13:10 vs OLDSCHOOL
- 1:13 vs BIZONE
- 13:4 vs Griffin Gaming
- 1:0 vs SuperHymy
- 13:7 vs INCEPTOR
- 13:16 vs DoxaGG
- 13:10 vs Team VEX
- 5:13 vs Team KnockOut
- 8:13 vs Pandaric Main
- 13:3 vs Young Stars Academy
- 16:19 vs cestlavie
ViBe Gaming’s season was full of extreme highs and lows, ranging from confident victories to painful setbacks. The team proved their potential by defeating, amongst others, OLDSCHOOL, Griffin Gaming and Young Stars Academy. They were also able to keep their cool in closely contested matches, such as against ooh team and Team VEX.
However, there were moments of clear crisis. At such times, painful defeats to BIZONE and Team KnockOut likely took a heavy toll on morale, whilst the overtime loss to cestlavie was arguably one of the biggest blows towards the end of the season. This inconsistency in form meant that ViBe’s record stood at 8–6.
Ultimately, the team finished in 129th–132nd place, which was enough to secure a spot in the B bracket of the playoffs. ViBe Gaming face their first test in this stage of the competition today, taking on SkinFlip. If they can eliminate simple mistakes and maintain their focus in crucial rounds, they have a chance to spring a surprise in the knockout stage.
Rezun Team
- 13:11 vs cestlavie
- 8:13 vs Plus Vibe
- 13:11 vs plusVIBE
- 13:4 vs INCEPTOR
- 10:13 vs Generation 4ydes
- 11:13 vs Try
- 2:13 vs 2D2 Sports PT
- 13:7 vs GELO Academy
- 11:13 vs Force Syndicate
- 5:13 vs UNIZA ESPORTS
- 5:13 vs Silent eSports
- 8:13 vs Atmosferka
- 10:13 vs Noctiq
- 0:1 vs The Elogainers
Rezun Team started the season with hopes of fighting for the play-offs, but reality proved brutal. The team was capable of putting in good performances, and victories over cestlavie, plusVIBE and GELO Academy showed that there was potential in this squad. Unfortunately, they were unable to maintain consistent form in the long run.
Too many defeats in closely contested matches, such as against try or Force Syndicate, as well as more crushing losses to 2D2 Sports PT or Silent eSports, meant that Rezun quickly found themselves at the bottom of the table. A final record of 4–10 meant they could not compete for promotion, making Rezun Team the only one of our partners not to reach the play-offs.
Although the season did not bring the expected results, it may serve as a valuable lesson for the team’s future. Regular participation in ESEA provides an opportunity to gain experience and draw conclusions that may pay off in future seasons.
Excurity Gaming
- 16:14 vs Edel eSports
- 13:6 vs Zero Tier
- 2:13 vs Dark Tigers
- 0:1 vs try
- 0:1 vs xd
- 13:7 vs Panico eSports
- 4:13 vs eViniuM
- 7:13 vs Sorby Fury
- 4:13 vs DEEZ NUTS
- 10:13 vs Rhadamanthys
- 1:0 vs Furduverk
- 4:13 vs TxT Gaming
- 8:13 vs GiP
- 1:0 vs OnlyBaitGaming
Excurity Gaming started the season with a promising victory over Edel eSports, and shortly afterwards confidently defeated Zero Tier. Unfortunately, in the following matches the team was unable to maintain the momentum, and painful defeats to Dark Tigers, eViniuM and DEEZ NUTS saw them quickly drop down the table.
Although there were plenty of positives, such as the win against Panico eSports or the walkover against Furduverk, the team struggled with consistency. Too many closely fought matches, such as those against Rhadamanthys or GiP, did not go their way, which ultimately sealed their fate for the season.
A final record of 6–8 left Excurity Gaming in 212th place, but despite this, the team qualified for the B bracket of the playoffs. Their first match against Fallen Angels is today, and although we wouldn’t call them favourites, they have a chance to show their character.
Panico eSports
- 19:17 vs Better Than You
- 1:13 vs Miracle5
- 13:6 vs RurkiBoys
- 4:13 vs VPF2
- 16:19 vs Jacket of Jesus
- 7:13 vs Excurity Gaming
- 13:3 vs EmiliaTopWaifu
- 7:13 vs Midgard eSports
- 4:13 vs Tropic Thunder
- 1:0 vs BEZ4ITA
- 13:11 vs YoungBlood
- 1:0 vs VZ_TEAM
- 4:13 vs 18S
- 8:13 vs wait8 eSports
Panico eSports’ season was also full of excitement and mixed results. The team managed to win tough matches, such as against Better Than You and YoungBlood, and also recorded convincing victories over RurkiBoys and EmiliaTopWaifu. On the other hand, there was no shortage of painful defeats, including against Miracle5, Tropic Thunder and 18S.
Panico often teetered on the brink this season, and matches against Jacket of Jesus and Midgard eSports showed that at times they lacked consistency in the decisive moments. Despite this, the team managed to finish the regular season with a 7–7 record, which was enough to secure a place in the B bracket of the playoffs.
Their even record saw Panico finish in 177th–178th place, so today they face their first test in this phase, where they will take on Unit. If they learn from their defeats and show the same determination they displayed in the matches they won, they could cause their opponents a lot of problems.
This is just the beginning of our partners’ adventure…
The regular season has come to an end, but the real excitement is yet to come. Five of our partners have qualified for the Entry Division playoffs, and each of them has the chance to write their own story. They are certainly in for some tough matches against demanding opponents, as well as the pressure that can paralyse even the best. But looking at the season as a whole, we can expect some truly evenly matched clashes and a fight right to the very end.
