As you are no doubt well aware, the Counter-Strike underground scene has been growing for years thanks to initiatives that have consistently built up their standing. They also engage the community through competitive tournaments. However, alongside the biggest tournaments, we are increasingly seeing projects that focus on a fresh approach and gradual development. The Lunacy Cup is one such tournament, which, following its previous editions, is entering the next stage of its history. As part of its ongoing activities, the project is joining the partner programme, announcing further initiatives.
Lunacy Cup – the journey so far and tournament experience
From the very beginning, the Lunacy Cup has developed as a project designed with something more in mind than just tournament competition. The initiative, which launched in September 2025, focused on building its own identity and gradually gaining experience in organising competitions. Instead of immediately adopting a classic, prize-based format, the organisers opted for charity events, combining esports competition with tangible support for those in need.
The first test for the Lunacy Cup was the inaugural edition of the charity tournament, which took place on 13–14 September. Teams competed in the classic 5v5 format, and following the final matches, Lunacy Gaming emerged victorious. RudyxGod stood out individually, finishing the tournament with a rating of 1.68 and claiming the MVP title. The most important aspect of the event, however, was its purpose. During the first edition, 530 zlotys were raised for Amelka. This demonstrated that even smaller projects can have a real impact beyond the competition itself.
We didn’t have to wait long for the second edition. It took place on 20–21 December and marked the next step in the initiative’s development. This time, the tournament attracted greater interest, and the winner was the ex-Vyce Clan squad… Now competing under the name Lunacy NXT, though we’ll discuss that in a separate article. Meanwhile, the MVP title went to JodliV2, who finished the competition with a very high rating of 1.93. Of course, this event also had a charitable dimension. A total of 700 zlotys was raised to help Adaś and Kubuś.
The next stage of development
Two editions of the charity tournaments have allowed the project to build a solid foundation for further activities. It was a time for gathering experience, testing organisational solutions and building the infrastructure necessary to run increasingly complex competitions. FineZ has been behind the initiative from the very beginning and has consistently developed the project, prioritising a well-thought-out direction and gradual development over hasty decisions.
The experience gained and the growing interest in the tournament made it a natural step to prepare the first full-scale edition of the Lunacy Cup. Its debut is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, and the tournament is set to feature a real prize pool and the participation of 24 teams. Interestingly, the organisers are promising a fresh and innovative approach, which is intended to set the event apart not only on the underground scene but also on the national stage. Alongside further preparations, the search is also underway for commentators and administrators to join the team working on the upcoming edition.
