Young Stars fielded two squads in the ESEA League 2 competition: the Academy, competing in ESEA Open10, and Talents, who are currently performing quite well in ESEA Main. An article on both teams has already been published; at the time, we focused on the main squad’s match against SMAKOLYSZE, whilst the academy played their last match against GENYGG. You can find more information regarding these matches in this article (click to be redirected).
Since that match, the Talents division has played three matches, whilst the academy players have appeared twice on the ESEA Open10 league server. Young Stars Talents had the opportunity to face a formidable opponent, as last Tuesday (22/04) their rival was Virtus.pro Future. Unfortunately, they were unable to win the match. We were able to watch Mirage in the match. After the first half, the score was tied at 6-6. In the second half, our team managed to win only two rounds. The defeat certainly stings, especially as the score after the first half wasn’t disastrous, but on the other hand, the players can certainly gain new experience from such matches, which will bear fruit at more crucial moments in ESEA Main.

Main S53, Round 4 |
An hour after the start of the previous match (19:30), our partners faced off against the team “Galia Esport”. This is a team made up of players from France, so it comes as no surprise that the match was played on the Dutch server. Before this match, our partner’s opponents had a 3-0 record, so it promised to be a very interesting encounter. It was no different on the server; we watched Nuke, where after the first half, Young Stars Talents showed exactly why they had chosen Nuke over Train. At the break, the score stood at 9-3. In the second half, the opponents managed to win a total of 6 rounds, which ultimately resulted in a 13-9 victory for Young Stars Talents. Particular attention is drawn to the form of jcbxDD (Young Stars Talents), who secured 26 kills whilst dying 14 times, giving him a KD ratio of 1.86. He was undoubtedly the driving force behind his team.

A few days ago, on Thursday, the Talents division took on the team “OfgodEfterskole”. As the opponents’ name suggests, we’re dealing with a Scandinavian team, specifically a Danish one. Fortunately, it wasn’t Astralis, and our partners managed to beat them. Although, let’s be honest, Astralis aren’t in great form, unlike “jcbxDD”, who once again topped the table, albeit by a smaller margin than in the previous match. The Young Stars Talents players once again dominated the first half, this time with a score of 8–4. In the second half, the opponents won only 4 rounds, and the match ended with a 13–8 victory for Young Stars Talents.

After 6 matches played, Young Stars Talents have a record of 5 wins and 1 defeat, which currently secures them a place in the playoffs. If the league phase were to end now, they would finish the league in 9th place. The top 48 teams advance to the playoffs, so it seems that if the players maintain this form, a place in the playoffs is all but guaranteed.
If anyone thought that VP Future wasn’t enough, we won’t disappoint them, as on Thursday, 1 May, at 8.00 pm, Young Stars Talents will host G2 Ares (Thursday). Two days earlier, they will face Infernal Void, also at 8.00 pm. At the moment, their Tuesday opponent (Infernal Void) has a 3-1 record, whilst G2 Ares stands at 4-1.

Young Stars Academy have played two matches since the last article on ESEA Open10 was published. Given that this is an academy squad, where the pressure is perhaps less than on the main squad, it seems they are currently performing above average. On Wednesday, they played the two matches mentioned earlier; at 20:30, they kicked off with a match against the Polish side — PIJEM BAWIM SIE — and this match could easily be described as a real thriller. If it’s a Polish derby in ESEA Open10, there’s only one map that fits the bill — Mirage — and that’s exactly what we saw in this match. The first half ended 5–7, so the academy would have to make up the deficit in the second half. As it turned out, they managed to do just that, and the match went into doubleovertime. The match really did look exciting, even on paper. Ultimately, however, it was the Academy who won the encounter, with a score of 22–20. The standout player for our partner was -jaco, who, as far as we know, has previously played in the main division — Talents — but interestingly, his stats were in the red in this match.

An hour after the start of their first match, they had to face “FARTTEAMFARTTEA”. The opposing team’s players are from the UK, and prior to this match they had a 2-3 record. Well… ‘faced’ is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, as the academy players didn’t show up on the server and lost the match by default 0-1.
Update #1
We have been informed that the academy players were unable to attend the match against FARTTEAMFARTTEA due to the behaviour of the PIJEM BAWIM SIĘ players. Not only did the match go into extra time, but according to our information, the PIJEM BAWIM SIĘ players used all their available time-outs, including the one granted when a player leaves the pitch, which is why the academy players were unable to turn up for the second match. If the PIJEM BAWIM SIĘ players took time-outs deliberately, or left the match deliberately (so that the YS academy could not play the second match), that is truly poor behaviour, and it is precisely such actions that mean the Polish scene, even the underground one, is standing still rather than developing. We strongly condemn such behaviour, and we hope that in future we will not have to cooperate in any way with people such as the players from PIJEM BAWIM SIĘ.
After a mediocre Wednesday, they have a 4-2 record. It could certainly have looked better had it not been for the walkover at the end of the day, but on the other hand, we don’t know what was going on within the team – perhaps some sudden, important situation.
On Monday and Wednesday, they will play two matches as part of the ESEA Open10 league phase. On Monday, at 8.30 pm, their opponents will be the Hungarian team “Mosolybusz”. On Wednesday, they will face the Bulgarians, the team “CLUB 88”, who will not be the favourites.
