As we know, the 53rd season of the ESEA has got off to a flying start, with no fewer than two teams representing Young Stars taking part in the competition. To be more precise, in the Main division we can watch Young Stars Talents, who are competing there for the second season running. Meanwhile, in the Open division, Young Stars AC – the organisation’s academy – are testing their mettle for the second time. Both teams have started the new season with great momentum, so it’s worth taking a look at their initial results.
Young Stars Talents in the Main division — how are they getting on?
- Imperial Valkyries 8:13 Young Stars Talents, Mirage
The very first match and already plenty of excitement! Young Stars Talents kicked off the season with a tough clash against the Imperial Valkyries, widely regarded as the best women’s team. From the very first rounds, the match was incredibly close, with both teams trading points and putting in a solid performance. By half-time, however, the Valkyries were in the lead at 8:4.
It seemed as though their opponents had the match under control, but Young Stars proved that they’re in the Main for a reason. After the break, the YS Talents players took full control of the match, winning round after round and gradually closing the gap. They read their opponents’ game brilliantly and didn’t let them back into the match.
The closing stages of the match were a real showcase for the Young Stars. An impressive comeback, culminating in an 8–13 victory, demonstrated the team’s character and sent a clear signal that they can compete for a truly solid result this season.
- Young Stars Talents 1–0 VOLT, walkover
Unfortunately, the second match did not take place. The VOLT team failed to field a full squad in time, meaning Young Stars Talents were awarded a 1–0 walkover.
- Young Stars Talents 13–3 SMAKOLYSZE, Dust 2
Young Stars Talents’ third match was a true display of dominance. On Dust 2, they faced SMAKOLYSZE and controlled the game from the very start. The first half saw a series of brilliant plays and clutch wins, allowing them to finish it with a score of 9:3.
After the side change, they left their opponents in no doubt — round after round, they built on their lead, closing out the map 13–3 without dropping a single round in the second half of the match. A decisive victory that only served to underline the team’s excellent form.
How is the Young Stars academy faring in the ESEA?
- Young Stars AC 13–11 Bangs, Nuke
In their first match, the Young Stars academy faced Bangs on Nuke. After the first half, Bangs were leading 5–7, but the Young Stars refused to give up. After the break, they took control of the match, winning 8 out of 10 rounds and securing a 13:11 victory.
- Young Stars AC 13–9 Aimbotz, Ancient
The next match was a clash with Aimbotz on Ancient. After a strong start in the first half, the team maintained their lead in the second half, winning the match 13–9. A good balance between attack and defence allowed them to seize the initiative and hold onto it until the end of the match.
- Werty AC Iris 5–13 Young Stars AC, Ancient
In their clash with Werty AC Iris on Ancient, Young Stars AC dominated their opponents from the very first half, reaching a score of 4–8. After the break, the team didn’t let up, sealing the match with a decisive 5–13 victory. Excellent teamwork and precise decision-making allowed them to secure the three points with ease.
- Young Stars AC 10:13 Geny GG, Nuke
Their most recent encounter with Geny GG on Nuke was evenly matched from the very start. After a 6–6 draw in the first half, the opposition played the second half better, eventually winning 10–13. Despite the evenly matched contest, Young Stars AC were unable to maintain their momentum, meaning they failed to emerge victorious from this match.
Both teams — Young Stars Talents and Young Stars AC — can certainly look to the future with optimism following their first matches. Solid results and impressive form at both Main and Open levels indicate that the Young Stars have enormous potential. Thanks to their excellent teamwork and individual skills, there is no doubt that they are ready to take on even tougher challenges.
Following these opening matches, one can be certain that the teams will be aiming for even higher goals. If they maintain their current standard of play, they can look forward to promotion to higher divisions and further competition against the top teams. We are hopeful that Young Stars will continue their winning streak and prove that they deserve an ever-higher position in the ESEA rankings.
