Constrict Gaming are back on the scene, this time as part of the Ground Games Cup. Naturally, right from day one, they’ve been the team everyone’s watching in Group B. After all, this is a squad that has maintained a stable position for quite some time and is entering this competition with a clear objective. More specifically, to prove that they are indeed the favourites in their group. What’s more, their start to the tournament only serves to heighten interest in just how far they might go this time.
A first step in Group B and a swift confirmation of their ambitions
As we mentioned in the introduction, Constrict Gaming have been drawn into Group B, where they’ll face Dark Knights, GGnext and The KanekaZ. This is a line-up of opponents capable of springing a surprise, but at the same time it provides the perfect opportunity to gauge Constrict’s true strength. That’s why the “Snakes” must be flexible and ready to adapt to different playing styles, as each opponent presents slightly different challenges and is capable of dictating their own pace.

However, the first group match showed that Constrict were well prepared from the outset and entered the tournament fully confident in their own abilities. The clash with the Dark Knights ended in a clear 13–2 victory, which in itself speaks louder than any commentary. It was neither a back-and-forth battle nor a match that hung in the balance until the very last moment. From the very first rounds, Constrict dictated the pace, quickly seizing the initiative and setting the tone for the entire match.
Dark Knights tried to find a response, but every attempt they made to build even the slightest advantage was immediately quashed. Constrict not only won rounds, but did so with complete control. Without unnecessary panic or taking unnecessary risks, but with the cool-headed approach typical of teams confident in their form. This match was a clear demonstration of strength and confirmation that, from day one, they intend to set the bar high in this group.
For the Dark Knights, it was a painful start, which will certainly require them to analyse their mistakes ahead of their next matches. For Constrict, however, such a start is the perfect opening statement. It looked like a victory not only on the scoreboard but also mentally, underlining that they have entered the Ground Games Cup in excellent form and with a clear plan for the entire group stage.
Will the “Snakes” keep up the pace?
Today’s match against GGnext and Friday’s clash with The KanekaZ will be a real test of their ability to maintain that momentum. Of course, if Constrict stay focused and replicate the result of their first match… then the fate of Group B will be decided sooner than anyone anticipated. The players have experience, composure and a results-oriented style of play. However, in tournaments of this kind, that often counts for more than the spectacle on the server. They’ve made a very strong start, but the real test is still ahead of them. If they maintain their current form, it will be hard to name a team capable of stopping their march to first place.
