The second season of CLUTCHPOINT is in full swing!
Although there are still plenty of matches to come, we’ve already witnessed many exciting fixtures involving our partners across the two rounds played so far. As we know, the BO1 format operates by its own rules. It’s a complete lottery – it all comes down to who makes fewer mistakes. Sometimes, one silly round can completely turn a match on its head. Was that the case this time? It did happen, but – despite the theory – only once.
NPK ESPORT and VOFOXEN Prospects in the first round
NPK are up first. They face an opponent who has clearly dealt with a different game title in the past – hence the name, I suppose. Here’s the match against RAGNAROK. We were greeted by de_polska, where the lads from NPK came out on top without too much trouble, defeating their opponents 13–8. Securing a solid start to the second season of CLUTCHPOINT is certainly motivating and will no doubt provide a bigger boost for the upcoming rounds.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for our other partner – VOFOXEN Prospects; sadly, they stumbled right at the start, despite playing on a map they’re quite familiar with. This time, the SLEEPERS team made it abundantly clear to the VOFOXEN division that de_Anubis won’t always be a sure-fire win for them, triumphing 13–9 and sending our partners’ junior division down to a 0–1 record.
This wasn’t just a fluke – NPK are on fire!
It’s now fair to say that the NPK ESPORT division has got off to a pretty good start in the first round. The high-stakes match was certainly no walk in the park; in fact, you could say it caused the lads quite a few problems. The second round brought plenty of stress and a battle for every round, every frag and every spot on the map. No one would have expected LOGIC FIRE to cause quite such a stir here, but as it turns out, they seem to enjoy it. Best of all, it was de_Mirage again, though this time it was far from as straightforward as the first one. The 16:13 result certainly shocked many of us because, looking at the Excel spreadsheets, none of us expected to witness the first overtime in these matches.
Was such a mental test necessary? We don’t know, but it certainly served as a warning to the lads from NPK that things won’t be so easy in their upcoming matches. At the moment, it’s two wins for de_Mirage and two for WIN – will it continue like this? We’ll see in the near future, though our opponents, considered one of the favourites, won’t go down without a fight. We’re talking, of course, about FORSAKEN.
ONCESTW come out on top against VOFOXEN Prospects!
The first match didn’t bring the lads from VOFOXEN’s junior division much joy; unfortunately, it left them in a somewhat precarious position right at the start of the competition. The second round was meant to turn things round, but, just like in the ring, a second uppercut once again knocked the lads flat on their backs. The plan was sound – to change the map and catch the opposition off guard with a different choice – but unfortunately not everything went to plan, and the final score on the leaderboard was 13–6 in ONCESTW’s favour. Unfortunately, this currently leaves VOFOXEN Prospects in a very precarious position – to put it bluntly, ‘with their backs against the wall’. Let’s hope that this time, a proper analysis and a cool head will secure them a victory over LUMBAGOCS.
3–0 or 0–3 – who will spring a surprise at CLUTCHPOINT, and who won’t!
Our partners’ upcoming matches are sure to provide plenty of excitement. NPK ESPORT are fighting for promotion, whilst VOFOXEN Prospects are trying to avoid the drop. Will the VOFOXEN division manage to stage a comeback and turn a 0–2 deficit into a 3–2 victory? We’ll find out in the near future – do follow our social media to stay up to date. It’s really worth it!
