The regular season of the 54th ESEA Intermediate season is practically over. Although there are still a few matches left on the schedule, they are unlikely to have much impact on the final standings. They will be more of a formality than a source of real excitement. And since we already know almost all the results, this is the perfect moment to look back and summarise how our partners fared in this division. Which partners managed to secure promotion to the next stage, whilst still remaining in the running for success? And who, unfortunately, will have to end their journey in the competition at this stage?

Gloris eSports’ season can be described as one of ups and downs, but with a very positive ending. They were the only team among our partners to make it to the play-offs, which is already a considerable achievement. The start of the season may not have been the most successful, with defeats to CRSNT ROZE and Take Flyte EU immediately putting them in a difficult position. Fortunately, the team managed to bounce back and, as early as their match against PENTA, showed they could compete against tough opponents.

The season showed that Gloris are in their element in close-run-it matches. The clashes with R4G OLDSQL, NoSurrenderGG and YUYIETTE were real nail-biters, but in each one our lads came out on top. In the decisive moments, they were the ones who kept their cool and showed more confidence. This was particularly evident right at the end of the season, where they secured four consecutive victories. The icing on the cake of these wins was the thriller against Jonixal, where overtime was needed to decide the winner.

Ultimately, with a 9–5 record and 64th place in the table, Gloris secured promotion to Bracket B. This means that the road to the Main Division will not be easy. Only the top four teams from both the main and lower brackets will earn promotion. Regardless of how the play-offs pan out, the Gloris players can be satisfied, as they showed consistency, were able to turn matches around and earned a well-deserved promotion to the next phase. However, the most important test now lies ahead of them: the battle for promotion to a higher division.

POLteam’s Nexium season was a real rollercoaster, full of close matches and small margins that ultimately decided the final outcome. The 7–7 record speaks for itself. The team performed solidly, but often lacked that bit of luck or the finishing touch to tip the scales in their favour. The best examples of this are the defeats against GAMUZO eSports and mXm-S, where the battle raged round after round, and despite POLteam’s enormous effort, they were literally one step short of securing the win.

There were also some very uneven matches. A 13-2 victory over N2 or a comfortable win against 13 AVG showed that the team can dominate their opponents when they find their rhythm. On the other hand, painful defeats against ROC Team or Erlamand exposed moments of instability. It is hard, however, not to appreciate their character. Particularly towards the end of the season, when they secured crucial victories over VoiceLessEsport and YUYIETTE, which still gave them hope of promotion.

Ultimately, however, the story unfolded in dramatic fashion. POLteam finished the season in 129th place, just one spot below the play-off zone, to which the top 128 teams advanced. Such a narrow margin must be painful, as the course of the season clearly shows they were capable of competing with anyone. This time, they fell just short, but this result lays a solid foundation for the next season. POLteam have proven they are a team with character, and with a little more consistency, they can compete for something much bigger.

The season has proved exceptionally difficult for our international partner, Saturlity Esport. At present, the team has a record of 4–9, and tonight they will play their final match against Five NoName. Regardless of the result of this match, however, Saturlity no longer have any chance of qualifying for the play-offs. Although there were moments during the season when they showed their character. Such as their victories over MaybeWeSplit or the thrilling clash with Deorum, which ended 22–20. However, in the bigger picture, they lacked consistency and effectiveness.

Many matches slipped out of control in the closing stages, which directly resulted in such a low points tally. The Saturlites had flashes of good play and were able to stand up to stronger opponents, but consistency was the problem. Ultimately, they finish the season below expectations, but the experience gained may pay dividends in the future. This is a team that will certainly want to return stronger in the next season and prove that they are capable of more.
