In practical terms, half of the 54th ESEA season is now drawing to a close. Teams at various levels of the competition have now played mostly six, and in some cases as many as eight, matches. As the regular season consists of fourteen matches, it’s fair to say we’re at the halfway point in the battle for a place in the play-offs. So how are Young Stars Talents faring at this stage of the season? In previous articles, we summarised the early performances of both the first team and the academy. Today it’s time for the next instalment of the story, where we take a look at how the Young Stars’ first team are faring in the middle of the season.
A slip-up at the start? Now they’re going for it
Young Stars Talents 16:13 :ua: GEDZA | Train
Young Stars Talents kicked off their run of three consecutive victories with an extremely hard-fought clash against GEDZA on Train. From the very start, the match didn’t go their way. The opening rounds were marked by a great deal of nervousness and failed attempts to stop their rampant opponents. Losing the first half 4:8 was a clear sign that if they wanted to get back into the match, they needed to find the right rhythm and a response to their opponents’ aggressive play.
The second half of the match, however, brought a complete turnaround. Talents picked themselves up and, step by step, began to make up the deficit, showing far greater composure and effectiveness at crucial moments. They managed to draw level at 12–12, which meant extra time. There, they showed character and mental resilience, tipping the balance of victory in their favour. The 16–13 win not only earned them valuable points but also allowed them to catch their breath after a difficult start to the season.
Young Stars Talents 13:5 Constrict Gaming | Nuke
In their next match, Young Stars faced Constrict Gaming, a team that is also a partner of our editorial team. This time, there was none of the nervousness seen at the start of the previous match. From the very beginning, they dictated the pace of the game. Constrict were unable to respond to Talents’ strong performance.
The first half ended 8–4, giving Young Stars a comfortable lead before the sides swapped ends. After the break, their dominance was even more evident. Constrict managed to snatch just one round before Talents closed out the match without much trouble. The final score of 13:5 is not only confirmation of their good form, but also a clear sign that the team has found its confidence and is able to make full use of its strengths.
Young Stars Talents 13:8 🇬🇧 SNOOZE | Nuke
The third match of this series was a little more exciting, particularly in the first half. SNOOZE, although not among the favourites for the match, gave Talents a tougher time than their previous opponents. The start of the match was evenly matched, with neither side able to establish a clear advantage. The players went into the break with the score tied at 6:6, which promised a fierce battle right to the end.
After the break, however, Young Stars Talents regained the initiative. Their play became noticeably more decisive, and they began to rack up the rounds. Although their rivals managed to snatch two more rounds, the final score of 13–8 showed that the Talents have no intention of slowing down. This victory not only rounded off a perfect week for them, but also strengthened their position in the table and reignited their hopes of a play-off spot.
Young Stars on a roll – time for new challenges
Three consecutive victories have undoubtedly breathed new life into the Young Stars’ first team. After a somewhat disappointing start to the season, the team has not only got back to winning ways but has also begun to emerge as a serious contender for a play-off spot. Their current 4–2 record provides a solid foundation for the rest of the season, although the real tests are yet to come.
In the near future, Talents will face some tough opponents. First, on 12 August at 8.00 pm, they will host Rzabka, and immediately afterwards, at 9.30 pm, they will face 🇳🇴 Nordix Esport. The final scheduled fixture will not take place until 2 September at 12:00, when they will face 
MVP Cyber Team. If Young Stars can maintain their current form, each of these matches could prove to be another step towards the knockout stages.
