Venom Vipers are two matches away from Army Rising

- -

Yesterday evening, our partner team – the Venom Vipers – played a match with their place in the Arrmy Open S12 play-offs at stake. Judging by the line-ups, the match was set to be a closely fought and thrilling affair. That proved to be the case, but only on two maps.

The clash in Round 2 of the play-offs – Venom Vipers vs Brick By Beer

It all began on the de_nuke map, chosen by the opponents. Our partner got off to a flying start, taking a 7–0 lead. From that point on, however, the opponents pulled themselves together and began their comeback. They were doing very well at first, but the Vipers woke up just in time and went on to win the half 9–3.

They also got off to a brilliant start in the second half, winning the pistol round to take the score to 11–3. They won the next round as well, securing nine map rounds on their opponents’ map. The first three rounds went their way, but it wasn’t until the 19th round that Venom Vipers managed to win the final round and the map itself with a score of 13–6.

The first map was fairly straightforward, but they still had to win the second one. This turned out to be de_anubis, a map on which Venom Vipers feel at home and often select in vet matches. It began with a pistol round victory courtesy of Brick By Beer. Despite this, our partner team responded immediately, winning three consecutive rounds to take a 3–1 lead. They didn’t stop there, adding another round to their tally. However, the opposition finally fought back in style, levelling the score. They failed to take the lead, a fact the Vipers capitalised on, ending the half with an 8–4 lead despite playing on the weaker side.

In the second half, however, the opponents got off to a very good start, winning the pistol round and the anti-force round. This allowed them to secure a contact point and they were just one round away from levelling the score again, which eventually happened. The teams traded rounds, after which the opponents took the lead for the first time on this map. It didn’t last long, though, as our partner pulled themselves together and closed out the map 13–10, taking the match 2–0.

Who will be next to face the Venom Vipers?

Our partner’s next opponent is not yet known, but we do know it will be the winner of the Problem Od Tyłu vs Dziadkiii match. The result of that match will be announced on Monday evening, and the Venom Vipers will face the winner between 6 and 10 April.
