We’re already more than halfway through the 53rd season of ESEA Intermediate, and so far we’ve only covered Constrict Gaming’s early stages – specifically, their first two matches, which you can find in our previous article. Today it’s time to catch up. Ahead of us are no fewer than seven more matches, in which the team enjoyed both a brilliant run and their first setbacks. After an impressive start with a 2–0 record, Constrict extended their winning streak to 6–0. Unfortunately, their last three matches ended in defeats, meaning they head into the second half of the season with a 6–3 record.
The end of the winning streak – who stopped Constrict Gaming?
- Constrict Gaming 13:11 Senshi eSports, Nuke
The match against Senshi eSports got off to a flying start for Constrict Gaming. From the very beginning, they controlled the flow of the game on the map, quickly building a round lead. At half-time, they were leading 8–4, which gave them a solid cushion heading into the second half. After the sides switched, Senshi began to gradually claw back the deficit, winning several key rounds, but they were unable to break through Constrict’s defence in the closing stages.
It was a match that demonstrated Constrict’s consistency when facing teams of a similar calibre. Despite a bit of a wobble in the second half, they managed to keep their cool and add a third win to their tally. The victory on Nuke could also boost the team’s confidence ahead of their next, more challenging matches.
- PhaSe Team 3:13 Constrict Gaming, Ancient
In their clash with PhaSe Team, Constrict Gaming left their opponents in no doubt. From the very first rounds, they dictated the pace and dominated Ancient both tactically and in terms of firepower. By half-time, they were leading 3–9, and their opponents showed no sign of having a plan to stem the tide. After the sides switched maps, sealing the result was a mere formality; Constrict did not concede a single round, bringing the match to a swift conclusion.
It was a show of strength and one of Constrict’s most one-sided matches this season. High confidence, good communication and effectiveness at crucial moments – everything went exactly as it should have.
- Constrict Gaming 13–7 PHAZE, Ancient
Constrict Gaming started their match against PHAZE on a confident note, leading 7:5 at half-time. Although the first half was fairly even, after the break Constrict dominated their opponents, conceding just two rounds. A marked improvement in the second half allowed them to seal a comfortable 13:7 victory.
This was yet another win that demonstrated Constrict’s strength. The team were able to adapt to the changing situation on the server, and their effectiveness after the sides switched was crucial in deciding the match in their favour.
- VIVID 8–13 Constrict Gaming, Inferno
The match against VIVID on Inferno got off to a difficult start for Constrict, who were trailing 7–5 at half-time. However, after the sides switched, the team showed character, turning the match around. A run of winning rounds allowed them to take the lead and secure an 8:13 victory.
This match is further proof that Constrict can bounce back from an unfavourable scoreline. The team has shown that it can respond to a difficult situation and take control of the game at crucial moments.
- mCon esports 13:7 Constrict Gaming, Train
After a run of six consecutive victories, their first setback arrived. The match against mCon esports on Train started well for Constrict, who led 5–7 at half-time. However, after the sides switched, the team completely lost their rhythm, failing to win a single round in the second half. Ultimately, the match ended in a 13–7 defeat, which was a painful lesson for Constrict.
This match showed that even teams in good form can face difficulties, and a failure to adapt to the changing dynamics of the game can lead to a complete loss of control over the match. Constrict has certainly learnt from this defeat to avoid similar mistakes in the future.
- Rcave 13–11 Constrict Gaming, Ancient
In their clash with Rcave, Constrict got off to a good start, leading 5–7 at half-time. However, in the second half, despite their attempts to defend, the team failed to hold onto their lead. Rcave successfully broke through Constrict’s strategy and secured several crucial rounds, ending the match with a 13:11 victory.
This match demonstrated the importance of consistency in gameplay, particularly at crucial moments. Constrict had the opportunity to win, but lacked stability in the second half, allowing their opponents to turn the match around.
- Constrict Gaming 10–13 REAL esports, Train
The start of the match against REAL esports proved to be a complete disaster for Constrict, with the team trailing 2–10 at half-time. Despite attempts to get back into the game after the break and a better performance in the second half, Constrict failed to turn the match around. REAL esports maintained their lead and won the match 10:13.
This match was a tough lesson for Constrict, who, despite a poor start, did not give up easily. Unfortunately, a lack of sufficient response to their mistakes in the first half meant they were unable to break down their opponents, who ultimately held on to secure the win.
To sum up this series of matches, Constrict Gaming demonstrated both their strengths and moments where they lacked the necessary focus and the ability to adapt to the changing course of the game. Although a few matches could have ended differently, the team will certainly learn from these experiences to become even stronger in the future.
