We last wrote about VPG Polska on 7 December. So, almost a whole month has passed. What has changed over these four weeks? Today, we’ll be looking solely at the Vikings and Hooligans PL. These are teams playing in the lowest tier of VPG Poland, the third division. Since the start of December, the Vikings have played seven matches. At that point, they were sitting in fifth place. We don’t have good news for this team’s fans. Promotion is slipping away, though there is still a chance. It’s not mathematically impossible yet, but in a few more rounds the Vikings may have to start counting down whether there is any chance at all, if their form doesn’t improve.
Vikings
On 15 December, they faced a fellow team in the table, a side right next to them. VendettaPL, a home match, and our partner won it easily 3–1. It was no different against KKS Galaxy, though here the win was by an even bigger margin, 6–1. The clash with Mendeksy ended in a goalless draw. Following this match, there was a clash between the partners in the third division. Hooligans PL hosted the Vikings at their home ground. The former won the match 2–1.
- 3-1 vs. VendettaPL, D.
- 6-1 vs. KKS Galaxy, D.
- 0-0 vs. Mendeksy, A.
- 1-2 vs. Hooligans PL, A.
Nie Chce Mi Sie
After the clash with Hooligans PL came the clash with “Nie Chce Mi Sie”. It was a rather dull encounter. We saw two goals, but it ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw. The Vikings achieved a similar result in their clash with CocoGang eSports. However, this match was far from boring, thanks to the four goals scored. The run of two consecutive draws was broken in the clash with Polish Ninjas. But not in the way the Vikings would have liked – with a defeat. Polish Ninjas, playing away, won 3–0. It was no different in the clash with Goat Warriors, though this time they were playing at home, with the same result.
- 1-1 vs. Nie Chce Mi Sie, W.
- 2-2 vs. CocoGang eSport, W.
- 0-3 vs. Polish Ninjas, L.
- 0-3 vs. Goat Warriors, W.
Is promotion slipping away?
After 22 rounds, the Vikings are in 6th place. They trail third place by 12 points, with five rounds remaining this season. This means that if the Vikings want to think about promotion, they must win all five matches. It seems that promotion this season will be difficult to achieve, whilst our other partner – Hooligans PL – are in a much better position.
Hooligans EN
In the case of Hooligans PL, the situation is much better. Everything suggests that if Hooligans PL maintain their form, they can be confident of promotion. The last time we wrote about this partner, we stopped just before the 19th round. Since then, this partner has played four rounds. They started with a 2–1 win over the Vikings at their home ground. In the clash with KKS Galaxy, there was an unexpected goalless draw. Our partner secured their first three points after the break in their match against Polish Ninjas, whom they defeated 3–1.
- 2–1 vs. Vikings, H.
- 0–0 vs. KKS Galaxy, A.
- 3–1 vs. Polish Ninjas, H.
Nie Chce Mi Sie
The clash with “Nie Chce Mi Sie” was a closely contested affair. We saw three goals. However, most importantly, our partner scored the majority (2), winning the match 2–1. On 5 January, Hooligans PL ended the day with a match against VendettaPL. There were two goals in this encounter, one for each side, resulting in a 1–1 draw.
- 2–1 vs. Nie Chce Mi Sie, D.
- 1-1 vs. VendettaPL, W.
Hooligans PL obviously have the best chance of promotion. Unfortunately, it seems the Vikings may slowly be falling out of contention, but we hope we’re wrong. There are only five rounds left until the end of the season, and in just a few weeks we’ll find out which new teams will join the second division and which will be relegated to the third.
