First of all, we’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Polskie Podziemie CS2 and xKacperski himself for giving us the opportunity to publish this interview. Questions for the interview were submitted by members of the Polskie Podziemie CS2 Discord server up until 7 September, and the player himself answered them yesterday.
Some questions have been omitted.
Some questions have been reworded to sound more professional, but we have kept the context the same. Questions are marked [R] and answers [X].
[R] How old were you when you started playing CS:1.6, and what were your first steps in team play like?
[X] I started playing when I was 10, and I played in a proper team for the first time this year at PGE Turów; before that, I’d only played in mixed teams with friends.
[R] You’ve probably been part of the underground scene yourself at some point, so my question is: how do you break through in the underground scene, and how can you get noticed by ‘better’ teams or their academies?
[X] You’ve got to put in the grind, but you also need a bit of luck for someone to spot you.
[R] I’d like you to explain why there’s such a difference between teams from Poland and those from the rest of Europe.
[X] I don’t know how to answer that, because I haven’t played for many teams. It seems to me that in Poland, people just point out mistakes and hope they’ll sort themselves out; in our team, we always talked things through and looked for ways to do things better.
[R] What was your parents’ attitude towards you playing professionally?
[X] They never really had a problem with me playing a lot.
[R] How did you feel after your first S-Tier LAN?
[X] It was the first LAN I’d ever played at; I certainly gained a lot of experience from it.
[R] At that event, across all maps, you achieved a rating of 0.86. Did the pressure or stress get to you, or was the standard too high? Was it too early for you?
[X] I don’t think the pressure got to me. At that level, you can’t win just by shooting; we’d only had a week’s training together, and I tried to do what they asked of me.
[R] Was the trip to Malta your choice? Or did the NIP board have the final say on this?
[X] It was 100 per cent my choice
[R] What’s your warm-up routine like?
[X] I mainly play KZ/Bhop to warm up.
[R] Roughly how much time do you spend on CSA each day?
[X] It depends on the day, about 10 hours.
[R] Has it always been your dream to play CS professionally?
[X] No, I never thought I’d play CS professionally.
[R] Which team would you like to play for?
[X] A team where everyone works hard to win.
[R] Your favourite organisation in CS.
[X] G2
[R] Favourite CS player.
[X] niko
[R] Do you think you’re the best and most promising Polish talent?
[X] No, there are better players than me.
[R] What advice would you give to young or new players to help them improve their skills in the game?
[X] Play the game, watch pro replays – even from Faceit – to learn some cool moves.
[R] How did your journey into computer games and esports begin? Do you remember the moment when you decided you wanted to become a professional player?
[X] I’ve always just played for fun; I started taking it more ‘seriously’ in 2020 when the pandemic began and I was stuck at home.
[R] How do you cope with the pressure in important matches?
[X] I don’t really feel any pressure when it comes to gaming.
[R] What was the first game you ever played?
[X] Minecraft
[R] If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice at the start of your career – what would it be?
[X] I don’t know what I’d say; I was doing the same thing I’m doing now.
[R] Do you have a post-match routine that you stick to?
[X] 20 minutes before a match, I go and practise shooting on bots; after the match, I don’t have any routine.
[R] What’s your favourite meal or snack?
[X] Spaghetti carbonara
[R] What was the toughest moment in your career, and how did you cope with it?
[X] I haven’t had a moment like that yet.
[R] Are you open to playing for all-Polish teams, or would you prefer to stay in international line-ups?
[X] I’m open to playing for both Polish and international teams
[R] Do you remember the first team you played for?
[X] AVEZ Academy
[R] How old were you when you reached Faceit Level 10?
[X] I think I was 13
[R] How did you come to join NiP?
[X] Spray got in touch with me and wanted to put me through my paces; I played with them for two days and they took me on.
[R] What would you be doing if it weren’t for esports?
[X] I’d still be going to school and studying.
[R] How did your parents react to the contract from NiP?
[X] Pretty normal, actually; they signed the contract for me without any problems.
[R] Who do you think was the best opponent you’ve ever played against?
[X] nEMANHA
[R] What was your first LAN tournament like?
[X] My first LAN was the Pro League; I hadn’t played at any LANs before that.
[R] How can a young player develop their skill and aim?
[X] Dm/aimbotz/refrag
[R] How do you break into a higher tier?
[X] You have to grind your way through the lower tiers and slowly work your way up.
[R] How did you explain to your parents what esports is all about?
[X] My mum spoke to my agent and he explained it to her in more detail.
[R] Do you have a daily routine when it comes to CS? If so, what does it involve?
[X] Kz+refrag
[R] Who did you enjoy playing with most on the team?
[X] MisteM
[R] How much do you train each day, individually and as a team? How much time do you spend analysing your own play or that of your opponents?
[X] As a team, 8 hours a day; individually, it’s mainly just some FaceIt matches; I spend about 30 minutes analysing the opposition before a match.
[R] What’s your dream team?
[X] donk, niko, monesy, b1t, hooxi
