The Hussars on a day full of excitement – the final battle and difficult choices

- -

31 August went down in Hussars’ history as one of the most intense and demanding days of the season. The team had to deal with an unusual situation – two crucial matches were scheduled for almost the same time. The Plausible Gaming tournament final was due to start at 7 pm, whilst the Summit Clash semi-final was scheduled just an hour later, at 8 pm. Such a tight schedule led to a series of difficult decisions and forced the team to make choices that determined the outcome of the evening.

A schedule that forced difficult compromises and created a tense atmosphere before the matches

Initially, the Hussars organisation announced that it would attempt to play both matches simultaneously. The plan involved rotating players and fielding a mixed line-up, but problems soon arose. The team captains in the Summit Clash semi-finals could not agree on a suitable date, and time was running out. The team found itself in a no-win situation: it had to choose between the final, played in a long BO5 format, and the semi-final, which could also pave the way to success. Ultimately, the players focused all their attention on the Plausible Gaming championship. The Summit Clash semi-final match (vs Constrict Gaming) was forfeited, and the team had to settle for 3rd-4th place in that tournament.

A final opener full of uncertainty and a lack of effectiveness

Hussars began the final with a tough start. Permitta eSports dictated the pace from the very beginning, and the Polish team had to react and look for space to execute their plays. The first half of the match was played under pressure from the opponents, who effectively blocked attempts at aggressive pushes and capitalised on every slip-up by the Hussars. After the sides switched, the team picked up the pace and won a few crucial rounds, but their rivals maintained their lead and won the map (8:13), taking the lead in the series.

A flash of dominance and a quick comeback

The second map told a completely different story. Hussars came onto the server with renewed energy and immediately seized the initiative. The team effectively blocked their opponents’ entry points, played their rounds confidently and controlled the economy. Permitta couldn’t find an effective response, and the Poles extended their lead with every exchange. Thanks to this, Hussars levelled the final (13:1) and proved that they can still dominate at the highest level.

A fierce battle for the upper hand and a dramatic finish to the third map

The next leg of the final provided the most excitement of the evening. Both teams fought a closely contested battle from the first to the last round of regular time. Hussars responded to Permitta’s changes in pace, introduced quick rotations and tried to take control of key points on the map. Every subsequent round was of immense importance, and the result remained in the balance until the end of regulation time. The draw forced the teams into extra time, in which Permitta tipped the scales in their favour (14:16).

A final attempt to turn the final around

The fourth map still offered a chance to level the series. Hussars started it promisingly, capitalising on their opponents’ mistakes and keeping the score level. After the sides switched, Permitta stepped up the pace, began to capitalise effectively on every mistake by the Poles and gained a lead they would not relinquish (10:13). Hussars fought until the very end, but failed to turn the match around and lost the series 1-3.

A day full of tension ended with a runners-up finish and a sense of disappointment

The decision to focus on the final earned Hussars second place in the Plausible Gaming tournament, but at the same time closed the door on their chances of progressing further in the Summit Clash, where they finished in 3rd–4th place. Such a tight schedule forced the team to make difficult choices, which did not bring complete satisfaction. On the one hand, the team showed character and a fighting spirit; on the other, they lacked the time and favourable circumstances to play both tournaments to their full potential.
