Summit Clash is drawing to a close, and the grand final is fast approaching; we’ve also recently found out which teams will be competing in it. Constrict Gaming became the first team to qualify after conceding a walkover. We had to wait until the end of the best-of-three semi-final to find out the second qualifier. Two of our partners faced off there. Nexium POLteam took on VoFoxen; it was a spectacular match that showcased the calibre of both teams.
How did the Nexium POLteam vs VoFoxen Esport semi-final go?
Matches between our partners are often very evenly matched. Especially when teams playing at a similar level face off. This time, that’s exactly the kind of match we got to see. POLteam, who usually play in the ESEA Intermediate league, faced off against VoFoxen, who play in the Entry league. The match went the full distance of three maps. Which ones were they? Train, chosen by POLteam; Mirage, chosen by VoFoxen; and Inferno as the deciding map.
TRAIN
Nexium POLteam 13:2 VoFoxen Esport
The first map was Train, chosen by POLteam. They are in their element on this map and perform very well on it. Whether in the ESEA or Army leagues, they have been quite strong on this map, and this time they had no intention of letting us down either. They completely dominated the first half, winning it 10:2. In the second half, VoFoxen had a chance to make a comeback, but in CS 2, if you don’t win the pistol round, there’s nothing you can do. That was the case this time too, so POLteam easily bagged the first map. They certainly owe a lot to Saqe, who racked up stats of 22/4 on the first map, achieving a K/D ratio of 5.50, which is a very impressive result.
MIRAGE

In response, VoFoxen opted for what is arguably their best map: Mirage. Often referred to as the ‘Polish’ map, it is easy for novice players but difficult to play excellently at a higher level. The match started very well for the team trailing 0:1 in maps. They finished the first half with a commanding 9:3 lead, which gave them a significant boost of confidence heading into the second half. In the second half, despite initial problems, they managed to finish off their opponents, and it was the Foxes who secured a 1-1 draw in maps. In this clash, two pillars on the VoFoxen Esport side shone under the nicknames Stich and JeykeS, with both achieving a K/D ratio above 1.80.
INFERNO

All that remained was the decider, a map where both teams are equally capable of putting up a fight. That map was Inferno, which in this case perfectly fit the definition of a decider. Both teams play this map quite well and are capable of holding their own there. In the first half, both teams showed what they were capable of, and although POLteam took an 8:4 lead, everything could still change. However, with no major surprises in the second half, the “Polish” team also came out on top, and it was they who secured their place in the Summit Clash S1 grand final. Statistically, on this map, all the players were very evenly matched, and no one was either ahead of or lagging behind the rest. Nevertheless, we congratulate VoFoxen on a truly good performance in this tournament, and we wish POLteam the best of luck in the final against Constrict Gaming.
