The past few weeks on the Counter-Strike scene have been full of excitement, all thanks to the play-offs of ESEA Season 52. Unfortunately, Gloris eSports’ tournament run has come to an end. After a fierce battle, the team had to concede defeat to their rivals and bid farewell to their dreams of promotion to a higher division. Despite their ambitious attitude and solid play, they fell just short of extending their run in the competition. What sealed their elimination and how did the crucial series of matches unfold?

Gloris eSports’ journey after qualifying began with a painful defeat. Their opponents needed just two maps to end the tie, but the Gloris squad did not give up without a fight. Although they failed to force a decider, they made life difficult for their opponents, particularly on Ancient.
The series began on Nuke, which was Gloris’s pick. Unfortunately, this map proved to be exceptionally demanding for them. Although the first half offered hope and they won seven rounds in it, the situation changed dramatically after the sides switched. They were unable to find a way past their well-prepared opponents, which led to a one-sided defeat.
On Ancient, their opponents’ pick, Gloris performed much better. The contest was evenly matched from the opening minutes, with the teams neck and neck, ending the first half at 6-6. After the sides switched, the excitement reached its peak – Gloris won a total of eleven rounds, coming close to levelling the series. Unfortunately, they lacked the finishing touch and composure at key moments. Kaubois took the initiative in the closing stages, gaining the upper hand and closing out the match with a 13-11 victory.

After their first defeat in the playoffs, Gloris eSports had a breather – the absence of an opponent in the next round meant they automatically progressed. There, they faced ToFMade. This time, they put in a much better performance, winning 0:2 and leaving their opponents with little chance.
The most thrilling map of the series was Mirage, selected by Gloris. The match was incredibly even from the start – neither team was willing to let up, and the battle raged point for point. The first half ended 5:7 in Gloris’s favour, putting them in a strong position to close out the map. However, after the sides switched, ToFMade fought back, forcing an overtime where the tension reached its peak. At the crucial moments, however, it was Gloris who showed greater resilience under pressure – they seized the initiative and confidently closed out the map, securing their first victory in the series.
The second map, Anubis, was the opponents’ choice, but it was Gloris who dictated the terms of the game from the very start. Excellent organisation and confidence in their play allowed them to dominate the first half, which they ended with a score of 3:9. ToFMade couldn’t find a way to break through their defence and, even after the sides switched, failed to turn the match around. Gloris didn’t let up and conceded just two more rounds to their opponents, confidently closing out the match with a 5-13 scoreline.

Gloris eSports’ final match in the playoffs once again provided plenty of excitement, but unfortunately ended in a painful defeat for them. Despite a closely contested contest, they had to concede their opponents’ superiority and bid farewell to the tournament. It took just two maps to decide the match, though the first of them could have unfolded quite differently.
The series began on the Ancient map, the opponents’ home turf. Gloris started the match with great confidence, performing brilliantly in the first half and building a solid lead. Unfortunately, after switching sides, the problem that had plagued them in previous matches resurfaced – their difficulty in closing out the map. Their opponents consistently made up the deficit, forcing an overtime period in which they proved the better side. Ancient ended in a painful defeat, which undoubtedly took its toll on the team’s morale.
Everything was to be decided on the second map, which was Gloris’s pick. This time, however, they failed to impose their tempo, and their opponents aggressively seized the initiative from the very start. A series of mistakes and the loss of key rounds meant they found themselves in serious trouble right from the start. The 9-3 score at the end of the first half effectively robbed them of any chance of turning the match around. Although they attempted a comeback, the deficit was too great to pose a real threat to their opponents.
Unfortunately, this is how Gloris eSports’ journey in the ESEA Season 52 playoffs comes to an end. Despite some good moments and a fierce fight, they lacked the ability to finish off key rounds effectively, which ultimately sealed their elimination. Will they learn from this and return stronger next season?
