And once again, we are witnessing how the underground scene operates by its own rules. Line-ups change rapidly, organisations appear and disappear… Projects that only recently seemed stable can suddenly cease operations or undergo a complete overhaul. For some, this marks the end of a chapter. For others, however, it marks the beginning of a completely new story. The last few days have brought just such news from two of our partners. A new squad has emerged within the PEST Esport structure, which some observers of the scene may already be familiar with from appearances under a different name. On the other hand, Visionary has decided to suspend operations, at least for the time being. Both of these moves demonstrate just how quickly the landscape of the Counter-Strike underground scene can change.
A new chapter at PEST Esport
However, before we turn to the subject of Visionary, it is worth pausing for a moment on a piece of news that, in a sense, has already been covered previously by our editorial team. In one of our recent articles, we reported on the suspension of activities by the Victoria Nostra organisation. On that occasion, we also mentioned where the team’s current roster would end up. PEST Esport has announced its new squad, which is none other than the former ViNo team. As a result, the players did not have to remain without organisational support for long and quickly found a new team to represent.
However, before this change took place, the team managed to play a full season in the ESEA Intermediate league, under the name Victoria Nostra. This was an important phase for them, during which they were able to test themselves against many teams operating at a similar level. Ultimately, they finished the season with a record of six wins and eight losses, which allowed them to stay in the division and retain their place in the next edition of the league.
Admittedly, this result did not allow them to compete for the top spots. However, it was an important experience for the team and another step in building their team play. Remaining in the Intermediate division means the opportunity for further development at the same level. On top of that, they have a chance to improve their results next season.
PEST Esport’s takeover of this squad can therefore be seen as the start of a new chapter for both the organisation and the players themselves. On the one hand, PEST gains a ready-made team that has already played together in the league… On the other, the players receive a stable organisational structure that can help them develop further.
In the upcoming ESEA Intermediate season, we will therefore see this squad back on the server. This time, however, instead of the name Victoria Nostra, it will be PEST Esport. The latter has officially taken over the squad and will be represented by players already known to the community.
Visionary suspends operations
Returning to the main topic, however… The community may have come across a post published by Visionary’s CEO in recent days. In a brief statement, he announced that the organisation’s activities are being suspended for personal reasons. At the same time, it was emphasised that it is difficult to specify a concrete date for the project’s return to the scene at this stage. This is because the date of a possible resumption of activities remains entirely undefined. The post also included information regarding the collaboration with UG. According to the statement, this partnership is unlikely to be resumed in the near future.
The project itself did not operate for particularly long, but many players passed through its ranks during its time. As is also evident from the post published by the organisation’s CEO, a total of over twenty players have passed through Visionary’s ranks. Among them were, among others, light2k and zgonn, who were publicly thanked in the announcement for their contribution to the team’s development and the time spent together representing the organisation.
In our coverage, Visionary most frequently appeared in the context of their performances in ESEA competitions. The team competed there in the Open division, which for many teams represents the first step towards more advanced levels. During the season, the team strove to achieve the best possible record and a position in the table that would allow them to consider promotion to the playoff stage. Ultimately, however, the team failed to qualify for the decisive stage of the competition this season.
Aside from league competition, the team also took part in the Feather Cup tournament. Their adventure in this tournament did not last long, however, as Visionary were one of the first teams to bow out of the competition and ended their participation at an early stage of the event.
Although the sporting results did not always go the team’s way, Visionary left a certain mark on the scene. Over several months of activity, the project gathered players around it who, together, tried to build a team and gain experience in successive competitions. For the time being, however, the history of this organisation is on hold, and its future remains unknown.
Further changes on the scene
Recent events clearly demonstrate just how dynamic and unpredictable the underground scene can be. On the one hand, we are witnessing new beginnings. For example, the former Victoria Nostra squad has found a new home at PEST Esport and will continue on its path. On the other hand, we have an example of a project that is disappearing from the scene, at least for a while. This time, it is Visionary that has decided to suspend its activities, in their case for personal reasons. Such situations are a natural part of esports… Some organisations are ending their story, whilst others are only just beginning theirs. Meanwhile, players are constantly seeking new opportunities for development and competition. So, all that remains is to watch the next moves on the scene and see what the coming months will bring.
