The Lucky XIII tournament has officially kicked off, and the first matches of the group stage are already behind us. The competition features plenty of teams you’ll be familiar with… as several of our partners are taking part in the tournament. On the server, we can see teams such as NPK Esport, Team Fairus, Brothers Bus, LHG and Lunacy NXT, amongst others. However, the first round of the tournament is proceeding somewhat unusually. The organisers had probably planned for sixteen teams, but ultimately fourteen teams entered the competition. For this reason, two first-round matches were replaced by byes. One of the teams to benefit from this arrangement is Lunacy NXT, which automatically progressed to the next round without having to play its first match. The remaining teams, however, had to log onto the server and fight for their place in the next stage of the tournament.
NPK and Fairus secure their first wins in Lucky XIII
The first match involving our partners in the Lucky XIII tournament was the clash between Team Fairus and DoPieca. The contest was very evenly matched from the outset, and it quickly became clear that neither side intended to give up the victory easily. Both sides were able to counter their opponents’ moves, meaning the lead changed hands regularly throughout the rounds. For a long time, neither side was able to establish a clear advantage. The score, however, remained extremely close. As the rounds progressed, the tension only grew, as it became clear that the outcome of this match could be decided by the tiniest of details and a single mistake by either team.
Ultimately, regular time was not enough to determine a winner, making extra time necessary. In the extra rounds, however, the Team Fairus players showed greater composure and effectiveness at key moments of the match. Better organisation of their play and capitalising on opportunities allowed them to tip the balance of victory in their favour. After a very evenly matched contest, Fairus defeated the DoPieca team 16–13, securing their place in the next stage of the tournament. It was a thrilling match that kept everyone on the edge of their seats right until the very end and demonstrated that the team can keep their cool even in the most demanding moments.
The second match played was the clash between NPK Esport and Chupacabra. Unlike the previous match, this contest was decidedly more one-sided. The NPK players quickly imposed their pace of play and began building a clear lead over their opponents from the very first rounds. Good team organisation, effectiveness in duels and control over the course of the rounds meant that their rivals had considerable difficulty finding their feet in this match. Chupacabra tried at times to put up a fight, but NPK consistently extended their lead and did not allow their opponents back into the game. Ultimately, the match ended in a comfortable 13-4 victory for NPK.
A fratricidal clash lies ahead…
Although some of the first-round matches of Lucky XIII are already behind us, the tournament is still ongoing and continues to deliver thrills. We have one more very interesting clash ahead of us, particularly from the perspective of our community. Today at 9 pm on the server, we’ll see a clash between two of our partners… Autobus Brothers and LHG. It will therefore be a direct clash between teams that have repeatedly demonstrated a solid standard of play and are capable of delivering spectacular matches.
