Many teams from the lower leagues are trying to gain promotion to Army Rising to take on increasingly strong opposition. However, promotion is very difficult, because not only do you have to win at least seven matches in the regular season, but you also have to get through the play-offs without a single defeat. Gloris have been trying to achieve this for a few seasons now and have still not managed it. This season, they have already started the play-offs and are doing very well.
Play-off Round 1 – Gloris eSports vs ADR30
Our partner’s first opponent was the ADR30 team. They are not among the most outstanding teams in the play-offs, so it seemed that a victory for Gloris was inevitable. It is also worth mentioning that the Arrma Open playoffs are played in a BO3 format, unlike the regular season, where matches are only BO1. The first map chosen by the opponents was Mirage. It started with a strong opening and a 2-0 lead. The opponents responded, but only once, which Gloris capitalised on by adding further rounds to their tally. With the score at 6-1, the opponents finally fought back with a bang, levelling the score at 6-6 by the end of the half.
The second half got off to another excellent start for our partner, who took an 8-6 lead thanks to a win in the pistol round. They didn’t stop there and added another three rounds, extending their lead to 11-6. The opponents tried to mount a comeback on this map, but our partner’s excellent form prevented that, and the Gloris team closed out the map with a score of 13-8.
The second map chosen this time by the winners of the first was Nuke. Here, however, the opponents started very well, winning the pistol round and immediately taking a 2-0 lead. Our partner responded by winning a round to get back into the game, but the opponents didn’t give them a chance to draw level, at least not at that moment. After losing the first round, Gloris didn’t let the opponents take the lead in the second, and so we saw the score level at 3:3. Gloris eSports didn’t stop there, and after the next five rounds, they took an 8:3 lead. The final round of the first half went to the opponents, and the half ended with a score of 8:4.
When the sides switched, the opponents won the first round again, but this time we didn’t see a comeback from them, as Gloris immediately broke that lead, taking the score to 11-5. From then on, it was a round-for-round affair, and our partner secured six opportunities to close out the match and advance to the second round of the playoffs. They succeeded on their fourth attempt, and the second map ended with a score of 13-9, with Gloris eSports advancing to the second round of the playoffs after an easy match.
