I don’t think many people expected both Hussars divisions to qualify for the Gamepex LAN. The main division — sure, but the academy (Young)? All that’s left is to congratulate them on a brilliant result. If the two teams were to face off at the offline tournament, it would certainly be an interesting event.
The main division players dominated their opponents. Their first-round opponents were no doubt frustrated after the match; our partner won 13–1 against “ToBywaFrustrujące”.
In the second round, we were treated to a derby, as the main squad took on their younger teammates — the Young division. This isn’t the first time the two teams have faced each other on the server. The main division won 13–8. The next match was played in a BO3 format. This probably won’t come as a surprise to you — the third map wasn’t needed. Hussars won this match 2–0 in maps, with their opponents being the team “Projekt Klan”.
- 13:1 — ToBywaFrustrujące,
- 13:8 — Hussars Young,
- 2:0 — Projekt Klan (13-0, 13-5)
Hussars Young’s BO1 matches looked one-sided, at least on paper. In their first match, they dominated “HighVoltage” 13–5. In the next, they lost to the main squad, though they put up a bit of a fight here. In the third round (with the series tied at 1–1), they faced “Back To Hell”. This match was played in a Best-of-3 format. However, we didn’t get to see the third map, as our partner won the match 2–0. In the promotion match, however, we did see that third map — fortunately, it went to our partner, and they won the match 2–1.
- 13:5 — HighVoltage,
- 8:13 — Hussars Young,
- 2–0 — Back To Hell (13–5, 13–5)
- 2:1 — Venom Vipers2 (13-9, 11-13, 13-8)
Hussars Young have qualified for the main squad with a record of 3 wins and 1 defeat. Who knows, perhaps they’ll have the chance to get their own back in the play-offs?
