After a somewhat disappointing start to the season for Team Fairus, the team has slowly begun to get back on track. In our first article, we covered their first two matches; in the second, we looked at the next three, bringing the total to five matches played. Today, we’re taking another look at their next three clashes. Fairus have now played eight matches and have passed the halfway point of the ESEA Open 9 season. Their recent performances have looked really solid, though one match was a bit of a let-down. Let’s hope it’s just a temporary blip.
Is Team Fairus on a roll? The fierce battle continues
Team Fairus 13:11 🇬🇧 LTD MAP POOL | Overpass
The first clash with LTD on Overpass looked like an evenly matched contest right from the start. Both teams stayed neck and neck, trading rounds and not allowing their opponent to build a comfortable lead. The pace of the match was steady, but the tension was palpable with every move. The first half ended with a perfectly balanced score of 6:6, which only confirmed that a battle to the very last point was on the cards.
After the break, the excitement did not subside at all; quite the opposite. Every round was worth its weight in gold, and both sides played with total commitment, trying to capitalise on their opponent’s slightest mistakes. As the end of the match drew near, Fairus kept their cool and read their opponents’ game better. They secured the crucial rounds, which ultimately allowed them to close out the match with a 13:11 victory.
Team Fairus 13:11 🇸🇪 Penguin Platoon | Ancient
The second match, this time played on Ancient against Penguin Platoon, went Fairus’s way from the start. The team came into the match with great energy and quickly took the initiative, scoring against their opponents time and again. Good communication and effective use of opportunities resulted in a solid lead at half-time. The 8:4 score provided a solid foundation for controlling the rest of the match.
After the break, Penguin Platoon attempted a comeback. The opponents clearly came to life and began to make up for their deficit, which introduced a touch of uncertainty into Fairus’s ranks. Despite this, the points buffer built up earlier proved crucial. It allowed the team to weather the storm and close out the match in the decisive rounds. The final score of 13:11 went to Fairus once again, and the team could add another well-deserved victory to their league table.
Team Fairus 10:13
Team NCTL | Dust 2
The third match and the third map, this time it was Dust 2. Unfortunately, the match against Team NCTL took a completely different course to the previous encounters. Fairus, unfortunately, ceded the initiative from the very first rounds, which resulted in a clear lead for the opponents by the end of the first half. The 4:8 score put the team in a difficult position, forcing them to take risks and look for ways to turn the match around.
After the break, however, Fairus showed character and had no intention of giving up easily. The team found their rhythm and began to fight more effectively for every round, imposing a faster pace and greater pressure on their opponents. Despite this, Team NCTL’s lead was significant enough that, although Fairus closed the gap, they were unable to complete a full comeback. Ultimately, the match ended with a score of 10:13, which, although a defeat, does not detract from the solid progress and fighting spirit shown by the Fairus players throughout the series.
Will Fairus secure promotion?
As I mentioned, Team Fairus has played eight matches in this ESEA season and enters the second half of the competition with a record of 4 wins and 4 losses. Despite this, the team is showing that it is constantly striving to improve its position and is capable of competing against various opponents at a high level. Although their recent defeat on Dust 2 was painful, Fairus showed character and a fighting spirit that will certainly pay off in future matches.
As for upcoming matches, Fairus will face 🇬🇧 Snapdragons on 11 August at 20:30. This will be a crucial encounter that could determine the rest of the season. Fans can expect a fierce contest and the excitement that comes with the battle for promotion.
