The 54th season of ESEA has recently kicked off, and one of our partners competing in this league is Team Fairus. We recently reported on their start in the Open9 league, and it wasn’t particularly good. They lost both of their first two matches, starting with a 0:2 record. More than a week has passed since then, and three further matches have been played.
A comeback at a crucial moment? vs Order Zero
The first opponent on the road to a comeback was Order Zero. Interestingly, this is a team consisting of five players from Malta. This is quite unusual on the CS scene, and their style of play could have been surprising. The map chosen was Ancient, which is not the forte of either team. The match was quite a gruelling affair for both sides, lasting 23 rounds. Unfortunately, it ended in a 13-10 defeat for Team Fairus, meaning they had to add a third loss to their tally this season. The advantage of the Open leagues is that you cannot be relegated from them; the battle is simply to climb higher. With this record, our partner still has a chance of reaching the playoffs and perhaps even promotion.

After the storm, the sun always comes out! vs Alba
The day after the previous match, it was time for the next one. This time against a more international team, though with a majority of British players in the line-up. The match took place on the Anubis map, where our partner had often played their matches in previous seasons, whether in ESEA or Arrmy, and had done quite well. This time, too, they performed well. For most of the game, they held the upper hand over their opponents, which ultimately resulted in a 13-8 victory. This is certainly cause for celebration, as it brings Team Fairus closer to the 3-3 record they are currently aiming for.

An all-Polish clash. Team Fairus vs Ignis Five
It’s been a while since the last match, so the players have had a chance to rest or train even harder in their quest for an ever-improving record. Yesterday (28 July 2025), they played their fifth match of the regular season, facing the Polish team Ignis Five. This was a team of a similar standard to our partner, and from the outset it looked set to be a closely fought contest right down to the final rounds. And so it was, as the winner of this battle had to be decided in extra time. However, this didn’t last too long, as Team Fairus came out on top with a score of 16–12. Thanks to this, after 5 matches, our partner has a record of 2:3 and is now just one match away from the much-anticipated even record, and after that… we can only guess whether it will be one of our partners in the playoffs.
