A new chapter

In our previous article [link], we covered the Polish team SLAKE’s first steps in the ESEA Main competition. Today we’re back to bring you an update on this ambitious team’s next five matches in Counter-Strike 2 and take a look at the challenges that lie ahead. SLAKE continues its journey in this demanding league, and every match is not only a battle for points but also a test of teamwork, communication and mental resilience.

A strong start – kicking off the series with a bang

The series of matches began with a confident victory over Global Clan (13:6). SLAKE controlled the match practically from the very first round. Perfectly chosen tactics, quick rotations and excellent effectiveness in key situations meant that the opposition was unable to respond to the Poles’ aggressive yet well-thought-out play. This match gave them a confidence boost, whilst fans could breathe a sigh of relief seeing that the team, in its new line-up, was finding common ground and effectively executing its game plan.

Momentum – a second consecutive victory

Just a few minutes after the previous match had ended, the Poles logged back onto the server. This time, they faced the Tribal Chiefs (13:6). This match confirmed their improving form. From the very first minutes, the team dictated the pace of the game, dominating their opponents both in attack and defence. The improving communication between the players and their confidence in decision-making were clearly evident. A few spectacular clutch plays and a run of economic round wins sealed the outcome of this clash. Two consecutive victories in quick succession were a clear sign that the changes are yielding positive results.

A tough lesson for the road ahead

This match looked set to be a challenge from the outset, but fate had an exceptionally difficult scenario in store for SLAKE. The team were forced to play the match with a depleted line-up, effectively fielding just four players against Unnamed Project’s full squad (2:13). In such a situation, the chances of victory become slim, and every round requires heroic plays. Despite their ambitious attitude and a few successful moves, the absence of one player resulted in serious gaps in defence and an inability to mount an effective attack. SLAKE fought until the very end, but their depleted line-up proved to be an insurmountable obstacle, and defeat was inevitable.

Back in the game – confidence restored

Following an unlucky match, which they were forced to play with a depleted squad, SLAKE went into their next match with a clear objective – to regain control of their game and boost morale. This time, everything worked much better: communication was smooth, and the players consistently executed the tactics prepared before the match. New signing Kemot played a key role, not only bringing fresh impetus to the attack but also supporting the team at crucial moments in defence. This victory over CSDE Cantera (19:17) was not only a point in the table but, above all, a sign that SLAKE can bounce back from difficult moments and return to the game with renewed energy.

A successful end to the series

The most recent match provided plenty of excitement for SLAKE fans, but ultimately it was the Polish team that emerged victorious. The match was full of twists and turns, but at the crucial moments it was SLAKE who kept their cool. The team’s growing cohesion and increasing willingness to take risks were evident, which ultimately led to the victory. This win rounded off a series of five matches with a 4–1 record, providing a solid foundation for their continued fight for higher positions. Team Juvi (13–8) had virtually no say in the matter, although there was no shortage of excitement in this match.

What’s next for SLAKE?

The team still has a few crucial matches ahead: The Secret Club (21 August), LOSCOCHCOCH (26 August) and ENRAGE (29 August). Each of these matches will be crucial for their final standing in the MAIN division. SLAKE must stay focused, improve their communication during tough moments and capitalise on the momentum they’ve gained from their recent victories. Adapting to their opponents’ playing styles will also be key to success, as their rivals will undoubtedly be analysing SLAKE’s recent matches. If they manage to maintain their current form, finishing with a positive record and challenging for a place at the top of the table becomes a real possibility.

Line-up changes – a new chapter with Kemot

SLAKE have been playing with a new line-up for the past five matches. NiKs has left the team, and Kemot has taken his place. This change posed a considerable challenge for the team, which had to quickly develop new tactical set-pieces and adapt their style of play to the new player. As the results show, it was the right decision. Kemot has brought not only a fresh perspective to the team’s play, but also positive energy and stability at crucial moments. Fans can hope that this is just the beginning of SLAKE’s journey with their new line-up and that their best matches are still to come.
