Panico eSports are nearing the end of the regular season – is it time for the play-offs?

- -

It has been about two weeks since our last report on Panico eSports’ performances. During this time, the team has played several important matches and can currently boast a fairly solid record in this ESEA Entry season. Their current 7–5 record looks promising, but it still doesn’t provide complete peace of mind ahead of the battle for the playoffs. To feel confident about progressing to the next stage of the competition, Panico needs to secure further victories in their upcoming matches. Today, of course, we’re taking a look at how their journey has unfolded over the last few weeks and what lies ahead for the team.

A false start to the second half, but hopes of a comeback remain alive

Although the start of the second half of the regular season did not go according to plan for Panico eSports, the team quickly showed that it can bounce back from defeats. Two unsuccessful opening matches could have dented morale, but subsequent fixtures brought an improvement and a slow return to form. So, how did this run go, and does it mean the fight for the playoffs continues?

Rumunia Panico eSports [7:13] :ua: Midgard eSports | Ancient

The first match of the second half of ESEA Season 54 certainly did not go Panico’s way. Problems arose from the very start, and the opponents dictated the pace of the game. The first half ended with Midgard holding a decisive four-round lead, which made it significantly harder to catch up in the remainder of the match. Unfortunately, although the second half looked slightly more even, the earlier lead was enough for the opponents to close out the map without much trouble, with a score of 7:13. Despite the defeat, Voila stood out from the team, being the only one to finish the match with a positive kill-death ratio. Bud1nC4 also played his part, effectively supporting the team with grenades, blinding the opponents as many as 21 times.

Rumunia Panico eSports [4:13] 🇬🇧 Tropic Thunder | Nuke

The second of today’s matches proved even tougher than the previous one. Right from the opening rounds, Tropic Thunder took control of the map, dictating the pace and winning the first half 3:9. After the sides switched, the opponents’ lead proved too great for Panico to mount a comeback. Consequently, the opponents quickly closed out the match, finishing with a clear 4:13 victory. Unfortunately, with such a one-sided contest, the statistics offered little cause for optimism. None of the Panico players managed to come out on top. However, Voila came closest, finishing the match with an even kill-death ratio.

Rumunia Panico eSports [1:0] Rosja BEZ4ITA | walkover

Panico’s return to the playoff race began with… no opponent. The BEZ4ITA squad failed to field a full line-up, and only one player appeared on the server. Although the situation was frustrating, as Panico wasted over ten minutes waiting, ultimately it is the result that counts. Furthermore, instead of a full, statistically hour-long match, they recorded a quick walkover victory. Consequently, they were able to use the extra time for training or rest.

Rumunia Panico eSports [13:11] :ua: YoungBlood | Dust 2

This clash was one of the most evenly matched of the entire season. Right from the opening rounds, neither team was willing to let up, and the back-and-forth battle continued practically until the very end. However, a narrow advantage went Panico’s way, as they ended the first half with a 7-5 lead. The second half of the match saw no major changes, and the game went round for round. The earlier lead proved crucial, however, allowing Panico to close out the match 13-11 without needing overtime. In this match, Voila shone individually, recording an impressive 30 eliminations with just 14 deaths. He also played brilliantly with grenades, and although he blinded his opponents 26 times, his allies also took the brunt of it… 16 times.

Rumunia Panico eSports [1:0] Rosja VZ_TEAM | walkover

The last of today’s matches failed to provide any excitement. The Russian side VZ_TEAM failed to field a full squad and had to forfeit the match. However, this time Panico didn’t even have to go through the veto process. The victory was automatically credited to their account, so the team could quickly get on with their business off the server.

Panico eSports’ defining moments in the regular season

After another series of matches, Panico eSports boasts a solid 7–5 record, which gives them a realistic chance of advancing to the playoffs. Although two defeats at the start of the second half of the season might have shaken their confidence, these three consecutive victories have allowed the team to get back on track. Even if two of them were walkovers. Now Panico faces the most crucial moments of the regular season, and their first opponent on this “final stretch” will be :fi: 18S. They will face them on 25 August at 20:30.
