Young Stars Talents ahead of their test and exam.

- -

A week ago, we wrote about Young Stars Talents in the highest terms – about their entry into the ARRMY Masters. How are things looking a week on? Things aren’t looking too bad. Since then, our partner has lost just once, having played three matches. A run of form worthy of their current position in the table. However, the current runners-up face a real challenge in their upcoming match – and we’re not talking about the fixture against Armitra, but against Lombard, who have been in excellent form this season. Will Young Stars manage to stop the current leaders and take their place? We don’t know that yet, but we’ll certainly let you know as soon as we find out. What we do know, however, is how Young Stars have fared in their previous matches. We’ve already written about this, but let’s take a closer look at the results.

No-show for the match.

The match against the no-show opponent did not take place. The fixture was scheduled for 13 July at 6.00 pm, but the no-show team did not appear on the server, and our partner won the match by walkover.

1–0 vs. Bez Podjazdu (walkover)

Two hours after the walkover against ‘bez podjazdu’, they logged onto the server. Their opponents this time were the ‘energolek’ team. The entire match was played on the Mirage map. This was the first time Young Stars had played on this map (on the ARRMY platform) since 19 March. Exactly 120 days ago, they last played Mirage in a match against Lombard. It will be interesting to see if we’ll see this map again in their next clash with that team.

For now, however, let’s not focus on Lombard, but on Energolek. Young Stars Talents are unlikely to count this match as a success. Speeda certainly won’t, as he unfortunately had a poor game. However, as a certain captain I once played with used to say: after the storm, the sun always comes out. It’s worth highlighting jkb’s lethal form, as he racked up a KD ratio of 1.65 (28/17). Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for our partner to secure another victory. We were very close to going into overtime – just one round short. This time, the Talents division fell short, losing 11–13.

11:13 vs. energolek (Mirage)

A day later (14 July), Young Stars Talents hosted Awaken Esport. This time, the map was Nuke, which our partner selects quite often. For example, we recently saw it in their match against The Vynz. In that game, however, YS started well but ended up on the losing side. In this match, however, they showed their better side. Let’s not hide the fact that The Vynz are on a higher level than Awaken Esport, with all due respect to the latter.

You have to play against opponents like that too, and you have to demonstrate your firepower against them. Young Stars did exactly that in this match. Looking at the individual statistics, no one particularly ‘stood out’. Every player deserves praise for their consistent performance, although it’s well known that in matches like this, we often see evenly matched individual statistics. Young Stars Talents won this match quite comfortably, with a score of 13–6. It seems the team is well on the way to making the play-offs this season.

13:6 vs. Awaken Esport (Nuke)

It’s fair to say that the matches against energolek and Awaken Esport were like test papers. The match against energolek certainly didn’t go Young Stars’ way, but was the result a failure? Probably not; after all, it was a closely fought match. The real test will be the match against Armitra Esports, whilst the final exam will be the clash with Lombard. However, in the end, it’s all the tests and assessments that count. It will be much the same at the end of the group stage. Every team will be judged on their results, including our partner. The captains have set the date for the match against Armitra as 21 July, and the match will kick off at 22:00 sharp.

The date of the ‘test’ in the form of the match against Lombard has not yet been set. We know it will take place between 19 and 25 July. We’d like to take this opportunity to wish our partner the best of luck in their ‘tests’. We hope they have prepared well for them, and that we will soon be reporting on Young Stars Talents’ promotion to the next stage of the league.

vs. Lombard (date to be confirmed, Round 8)
