Panico eSports vs. Jesus' Jacket: the halfway point of the ESEA Entry

- -

When we last wrote about one of our international partners, Panico eSports, they had a 3-1 record in the ESEA Entry. Since then, they have played three matches in the 54th season of the ESEA Entry. Just over a week ago, on Monday, they faced Jacket of Jesus; on Wednesday, they took on Team Vision; and yesterday, they went head-to-head with EmiliaTopWaifu.

Jacket of Jesus too strong for Panico eSports

The opposing team had the final ban; they could choose to ban Overpass or Dust II, and they chose the former, though the match was played on Dust II. On paper, Jacket of Jesus were the favourites, and quite strong ones at that. Before the match against our partner, they had a 3-1 record and had already beaten another Polish team, ATP. After the first half, the scoreboard showed a 6-6 draw.

The second half ended with exactly the same score, resulting in an overtime period for this match. Unfortunately for our partner, Jacket of Jesus proved more effective in overtime. Our partner managed to win only one round, ultimately losing the match 16–19. Nevertheless, our partner deserves a round of applause for their fight, and above all for a closely contested match, which certainly boosts team morale.

Individually, every player performed at a similar level. Although _Voila_ and _S4nKy_ led the way in terms of eliminations on the server, taking only Panico’s colours into account. Panico eSports were, however, ‘punished’ by verbalprince, who finished the match with 34 eliminations to his name, and below are our partner’s statistics from this match.

Usually Dust II, now Ancient

If we look at Panico eSports’ matches played so far, we see mainly the sand map, Dust II, with two exceptions. One Anubis and one Ancient. Just as in the previous match, the opponent had the decisive ban, and just as in the previous ban phase, Overpass was also an option. However, the opponent did not opt to play on this map, banning it instead, and ultimately, in the match against Team Vision, we saw Ancient, which Panico eSports played for the first time this season.

It is clear that Panico eSports’ main map is Dust II, but this was vetoed right at the start. Although this was Panico eSports’ first official match on Ancient this season, it didn’t stop them from winning the first half 7-5. And that, unfortunately, is where the positives end, as the Panico players will probably want to forget the second half. After the side change, they didn’t win a single round, resulting in a 7-13 defeat.

On an individual level, _Voila_ definitely stood out on our partner’s side, racking up 20 eliminations whilst dying 15 times. Unfortunately, he was the only one with a positive KD ratio; the rest of his teammates seemed to have missed the server altogether.

A match to break the losing streak

Two consecutive defeats for our partner’s team. They certainly weren’t considered favourites in one of them, but they put up a fight nonetheless, so it’s not a disaster. However, nobody likes losing several matches in a row; it not only affects the record but also the team’s morale. In Round 7, which took place yesterday, Panico eSports faced EmiliaTopWaifu, and they weren’t considered favourites in this match either.

Their opponents were from Germany and had a record of 3 wins and 2 losses going into the match against our partner. In previous matches, we often noted that the opponent had the final ban, and the choice was often between Overpass and a second map that appeared more frequently. In this match, Overpass was also on offer, but this time paired with Ancient, and once again the decision lay with the opponent. But this time it was Overpass that won, and this was the first time we had seen it in a match involving Panico eSports.

The Romanian-based players finished the first half on a high note, winning 9-3. After the side switch, the pistol round also went to our partner, as did the second round after the switch. Ultimately, the match ended in victory for our partner, with a score of 13-3. I think we have the answer as to why opponents banned Overpass so often.

Every Panico eSports player performed at a similar level, with the possible exception of two players who, as is now standard, seem to lag slightly behind the rest of the team. We’re talking about S4nky and _Voila_, who together contributed significantly to the final result.

Panico eSports’ next opponents

Currently, after 7 rounds played, the team has a 4-3 record. This week, they will play one more match in their ESEA division, and their opponent will be the Belgian team “Milgard eSports”, who have a 3-3 record.
