To mark the promotion to the tenth season of ARRMY Rising, we interviewed the current captain of Signum Esports – BGL. You could say this player is a seasoned veteran, as he’ll be turning 30 this year. As he enters a new decade, we wish him continued success with Signum Esports – age is just a number.
[R] Hi, first off, congratulations on your promotion to ARRMY Rising S10 and best of luck in the upcoming season. Could you please introduce yourself to those who don’t know you yet?
Hi, this is Bgl, the current captain and IGL at Signum Esports. I’ll be turning 30 this year, so I’m not the youngest anymore.
[R] How did you meet the lads in the team, and how long have you known each other? How long have you been playing together?
Perhaps I’ll start chronologically; I’ve known Fryta the longest, as we’ve known each other for over a year. We used to play together back in the CS:GO days, and that’s when we first tried to form a team together. At the end of August last year, we were looking for a marksman for the team, and that’s how we met Gondzialo. unfortunately, shortly afterwards Fryta lost his motivation to play CS, so the whole team fell apart, but together with Gondzialo we decided to do something else in CS2; after many attempts to coordinate with three other players, I decided to take a break myself. About a month later, Gondzialo got in touch and asked if I’d play as a stand-in in the Rising qualifiers, so I pulled myself together and tried to help his current team. The lads made it through and played the next season in Rising, and I felt the urge to play CS again, so I put up an ad on Gampre. After a few days, Husarz (the team’s former captain) got in touch with me because they were looking for a fifth player, and that’s how I met Husarz, Pajson, J4 and Bartman (it was around the end of November). By the end of December, Pajson had left us and we started looking for a fifth player; and since I was still in touch with Gondzialo, I asked him if he’d like to give playing with us a go, and that’s how Signum vol1 was formed, with the line-up of Husarz, Bartman, J4 and Gondzialo. It was quite a fruitful time, as we finished the ESEA Open with a 10-4 record, though we didn’t manage to get through the playoffs. Following the ESEA playoffs and the closed qualifiers for Rising in arrMy (which unfortunately ended in failure), there were changes to the line-up: Husarz left the team and I took over his duties, whilst Fryta joined us. We’ve been playing together in our current core line-up for 2.5 months now.

[R] Nobody is a robot, and nobody is good enough to win every match, but what would you improve upon over time following the loss to ŻółwOdTyłu?
As for the match we lost to ŻółwOdTyłu, I think we simply got off to a bad start, losing 8-0 on the CT side. I don’t want to give away what we’ll be changing for the rematch, but you’ll be able to find out in a few days, as it’s taking place this Sunday, 19 May, at 5.30 pm, and I hope that this time we’ll come out on top.
[R] You’re currently taking part in the Spirits Cup tournament. What are your goals for this tournament?
There’s only one goal: to win the whole tournament.
[R] In your group, as many as four teams have withdrawn from the tournament; that must mean something. The teams finishing 2nd to 4th in the group will advance to the next stage, which means that even if you lose all your matches, you’ll still progress to the next stage. How well organised is this tournament?
Honestly? I haven’t looked into it in depth because J4ku handles tournament-related matters on Discord, and it was he who informed us that we had another win because someone had withdrawn. As for the organisation? So far, apart from one mistake resulting from the confusion, we don’t really have any complaints.
[R] Can you tell us which upcoming tournaments or leagues we’ll see Signum Esports in?
It’s very likely you’ll see us at the 5th Racibórz Gaming Festival; it’s an offline competition where we’d like to test ourselves. We’re also waiting for BaseStack to announce its tournament series. Besides that, of course, from June onwards you’ll be able to cheer us on in arrMy Rising, and if we manage to qualify, in the Summer Masters tournament.

[R] Which player do you work best with and why?
It’s hard to answer that question because I work with each of them a bit differently.
[R] What is your best-played match? Which one gives you the most satisfaction?
You know what, I don’t really have one. I really enjoyed the matches at ELESPIDI, Glebe and Hevind E-sports. I get the most satisfaction when the match ends and I hear the joy in my teammates’ voices; in my opinion, that’s the most important thing – having that ‘commotion’ and satisfaction after the match.
[R] How many hours a week do you train? Can you tell us what a typical day looks like for you?
Less recently because of work. My typical day? Nothing exciting – work, sorting out dinner and the flat, some individual training, a few games with the lads, and finally some time with my wife
[R] What would you add in the next Counter-Strike 2 update?
I don’t have anything specific I’d like to see added right now, but in the near future I’d be in favour of bigger changes to the map pool; for me, adding Train and Cache would be the perfect update
[R] What does your warm-up look like before training?
A typical warm-up is either some deathmatch or something like aimbot practice, depending on the time.
