Gloris eSports fielded two squads in the ARRMY competition: the academy team, which plays in the Open division, and the main squad, which is currently competing in the Rising division. Today, however, we’ll focus on the former – the academy team – which has already played its first three matches as part of the 13th season of ARRMY Open.
They played their first match against the “Blackzone” team, though “played” is perhaps a bit of an overstatement, as they dominated their opponents 13–2 on the Anubis map. Individually, every Gloris AC player performed at a similar level. With such results, individual statistics and standout performances do not have as much impact as in more evenly matched games, but it is worth noting that every player performed at a similar level. This was in contrast to their opponents, who had only two players putting up a fight.

Open S13, Round 1 |
In the second round, they faced Phantom E-sports Force, whom they, like Blackzone, swept off the board. The match featured the same map as the clash with Blackzone, namely Anubis. As usual, the players performed at a similar individual level. It is difficult to say much more about such a one-sided encounter; perhaps we should simply commend the form of the Gloris AC players.

Third match, third Anubis?
Nothing could be further from the truth; Gloris AC’s winning streak on Anubis came to an end after two matches. This is the only streak Gloris AC have had so far that has ended, as they secured another victory – their third in a row – against “BIGDUCKKONOPISKA”. Winning 13-2. This time, the match was played on the de_inferno map.

They’re flying high…
When you open the ARRMA Open S13 league table, you’ll see our partner, Gloris AC, sitting in second place. We’re not at all surprised. It’s hard to imagine it being any other way when you win three matches in such style. Just 5 rounds lost across 3 matches, with a round difference of +34. The players in this squad are once again making a strong start to the group stage. However, the climax lies in the play-offs, towards which Gloris AC is marching confidently, as it seems a sort of ‘curse’ hangs over the organisation. A curse that prevents teams representing Gloris eSports from advancing from the ARRMY Open division to Rising. Gloris eSports’ last two seasons have seen them reach the ARRMY Open play-offs and be knocked out of those play-offs twice. Every curse must be broken eventually. Let’s hope we witness that this season.
The real test
We don’t want to take anything away from anyone’s skills, but it seems that the real first test for the new/old Gloris eSports line-up is still a few days away. The next match featuring the Gloris academy will be a ‘showdown’ with Vandals Clan, another of our partners. Looking at the results and playing style alone, it seems that Gloris AC are slight favourites for this match. Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact date of the match at the moment; we know it will take place sometime between 4 and 10 July. We’ll find out the date in about 6 hours, as the system will select the date at 23:00.

Open S13, Round 4 (BO1) | no set date |
If this were a BO3 match, we would hope for all the selected maps to be played. Unfortunately, this is not a BO3 but a BO1, so we’re hoping for at least one overtime match, just for the excitement. We wish both teams the best of luck; we’ll certainly be watching the match ourselves, and we encourage you to follow Gloris eSports on social media.
