Armitra NXT is a team capable of playing very well and running rings around even top-tier opponents. They proved this by securing promotion to the ESEA Intermediate league last season, and are now proving it once again in the Arrmy Open league. In our previous article about them, we covered their first two matches, which ended in two comfortable victories. Since then, they’ve played a further four matches and are well on their way to the play-offs.
The ‘charms’ of the Open league – vs Alte_Leute
One of the ‘charms’ of the Arrmy Open league is the constant stream of walkovers. This is mainly down to teams who sign up to the league without any real ambition and, if their first few matches don’t go their way, simply stop playing. This time, Armitra NXT came up against one such team and, as a result, was able to improve its record effortlessly. The match, of course, ended 1–0, and our partner had nothing left to do but wait for the next one, which was scheduled for two days’ time.

A tough test against a stronger opponent – vs HomieZ
In response to the walkover in the previous match, our partner were drawn against an opponent who went into the match with a 2:1 record. Of course, this didn’t make them look any better than Armitra NXT, who had a 3:0 record. However, appearances can be deceiving, especially in CS2. The match took place on the Anubis map, where our partner performs quite well and often opts for this map even in BO3s. They started on the attacking side, which meant that to stand a chance of winning, they had to play that half of the match exceptionally well. The start, however, did not go their way, as they lost the pistol round, followed by a failed force buy. They thus squandered their chances of a strong start. When it came to full-on team fights, Armitra began to show that they weren’t going to give the match away easily. They managed to secure a contact point, which they capitalised on to level the score at 4–4. There was a standard back-and-forth exchange, round for round, but it was Armitra NXT who took a 6–5 lead and had the chance to go into the half-time break ahead. HomieZ wouldn’t let that happen, and as a result, the score was 6–6 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, it was our partner’s turn to defend. They managed to hold the pistol round, but their opponents won the force buy. This quickly took the score to 9–7. Unfortunately, however, the battle for this match proved too tough for Armitra NXT, and they didn’t win a single round for the rest of the match, ultimately losing 7–13.

A post-match analysis straight after the defeat – vs S!lence.Gaming
After a defeat whilst still holding such a strong record, it’s important not to lose heart and to keep fighting for the play-offs. Armitra NXT played another match just an hour after the previous one; this time, the same pattern from the first match discussed today repeated itself. Their opponents failed to turn up at the agreed time, resulting in a walkover. Thanks to this, our partner returned to winning ways, adding a fourth win to their record. This meant that Armitra NXT are just three wins away from guaranteed play-offs.

Battle against the Dark Knights – vs Dark Knights
With a record like this, there’s no room to rest on one’s laurels. We were only three wins short, but in every match you can come up against a really strong opponent. Our next opponent, the Dark Knights, was certainly one such team. They went into this match with a 4:1 record, although, much like Armitra NXT, the vast majority of those wins were walkovers. Nevertheless, it promised to be an interesting match. The map was once again Anubis, though this time the Armitra players started on the defensive side. They managed to win the pistol round and, having learnt from their previous match, this time they didn’t succumb to their opponents’ force buy. This allowed them to easily build a 3–0 lead. Their opponents reacted by winning a round, but our team responded immediately. That response didn’t amount to much, as the opponents levelled the score at 4–4 shortly afterwards. They also managed to take the lead, but it didn’t last long. The first half ended with our partner leading 7–5.
The second half began innocently enough with our partner winning the pistol round and taking a 9–5 lead. However, that was not the end of it, and Armitra NXT picked up such momentum that they didn’t let up until the very end of the match, which they won 13–5. As a result, they are now just two wins away from securing a place in the play-offs.
