The group stage of the Summit Clash tournament has now come to an end. The teams that performed very well in it will now compete in the play-offs. One of them is Constrict Gaming, which, apart from having already reached the play-offs, is also considered the favourites. But how exactly did their previous matches go, and what record did they achieve to reach the play-offs? Here are the answers…
Opening match – 
Constrict Gaming vs Valiance
Constrict’s first opponent in the entire tournament was Valiance, our partner, who have now lost their squad. However, in this match, whilst they still had their squad, they were able to put up a strong fight and perhaps spring a surprise. They did not, however, manage to do so against Constrict Gaming, who won easily with a score of 13:6 and got off to a good start in the new tournament. It is worth mentioning the tournament format, in which each team plays six matches in the group stage. The top four teams go straight through to the quarter-finals, whilst the next eight teams play in the round of 16.
A phantom victory
The next match remains something of a mystery, as neither Constrict’s social media nor the tournament organiser has posted a result. However, thanks to the bracket released after the first two matches for each team, we can see that our partner received a walkover in the second match. This allowed them to effortlessly record a 2-0 record and storm their way towards securing a place in the playoffs.
The run continues…
The next opponent to stand in Constrict Gaming’s way was Horizon Youngsters. Even before the match began, they were tipped for defeat, as they are, after all, at a much lower level than our partner. As usual, the predictions proved accurate and Constrict won the match by a score of 13:1. This, of course, improved their record to 3:0.
The first worthy opponent on the road – Constrict Gaming vs Nexium POLteam
Eventually, a very good team must face a better one, or at least one of a similar standard. This is exactly what happened in Round 4, where Constrict Gaming came up against another of our partners – Nexium POLteam. They had performed just as well as Constrict this season and, going into this match, also had a 3:0 record. The match was very evenly balanced and it remained unclear until the very end who would emerge victorious and who would still have a chance to fight for a 6-0 record. However, after a full 24-round battle, Nexium POLteam emerged as the winners and remained with a flawless 4-0 record.
Another worthy opponent and another closely contested match – Constrict Gaming vs DR Esports
After their first defeat, Constrict couldn’t afford to lose heart and had to keep going; they still had a chance, of course, to go straight through to the quarter-finals. Our partner’s next opponent was DR Esports. They went into this match in a weaker position, as they had a 2-2 record and were fighting for a place in the playoffs. Constrict Gaming were the clear favourites, but surprises do tend to happen, especially in the lower brackets. However, we didn’t see one in this match, and our partner added a 4th win to their record, bringing their tally to 13:10.
DR EsportsHow did Constrict finish?
Moving on to the final match discussed today, which was another partner clash, this time between Rezun Team on Train. The match can be summed up in one word – a walk in the park. Constrict won the match 13-2, adding their fifth victory to their tally. Looking at the standings at the end of the league phase, we can see that our partner have secured a place in the quarter-finals, finishing in second place just behind POLteam, who ended with a 6-0 record.
Who will Constrict face in the playoffs?
The opponent is not yet known, and given that Constrict Gaming have already secured their place in the quarter-finals, we will have to wait a little longer to find out.
