Analysis of recent matches
The Polish Counter-Strike 2 scene is developing rapidly, and one of the teams that has been regularly thrilling fans in recent weeks is Nexium POLteam. The team competes in the ESEA Intermediate league, where it faces strong European line-ups. In our previous article, we looked at their first six matches in the competition – you can find that article [here]. This time, we’ll focus on their last five matches, which show how the team is maturing, learning from its defeats and gradually making a name for itself in the league.
A battle to the end, but the finer details decided the outcome
The match against ROC Team (3:13) was a real emotional rollercoaster. The team had their moments of dominance, but failed to convert them into ultimate success. Particularly painful were the situations where the Poles had a numerical advantage – as much as 5 on 3 – yet still saw the rounds slip through their fingers. Mistakes like these at this level of competition cost dearly, and ROC Team exploited them mercilessly. It was a match from which a great deal can be learnt.
A tough opponent and a lesson to be learnt
The clash with Erlamand (4:13) didn’t go Nexium’s way from the outset. Their opponents imposed a very aggressive style of play, constantly applying pressure and attacking unexpected positions. The Poles tried to respond with counter-attacks on several occasions, but their execution lacked precision. It was clear that Erlamand had prepared excellently tactically and knew how to neutralise POLteam’s strongest points. Although the final result left no room for doubt, such matches are an invaluable lesson – they highlight what the team needs to work on to maintain consistent form. Sometimes, a defeat against a tough opponent is the best investment in the future.
A confident victory and a return to winning ways
After a run of tough matches, the players needed a strong showing – and that’s exactly what they delivered in their clash with muscle5 (13:9). The Poles played decisively, with confidence and immense commitment. As early as the first half, the team built a solid lead, winning crucial economic rounds and not allowing their opponents to find their rhythm. A standout moment was the clutch win in a 1-on-3 situation – this play completely took the wind out of their opponents’ sails and allowed POLteam to control the match right until the very end. This victory not only improved their league position but also boosted morale and proved that the team is still capable of playing spectacularly and effectively.
A bitter evening against Nt Try
The match against Nt Try turned out to be one of those fixtures that stick in your mind for a long time – unfortunately not because of a good result. Nexium got off to a promising start; a few rounds on the offensive looked really good, and the team’s momentum gave hope for a closely fought contest. However, as time went on, the opponents became increasingly adept at reading the Poles’ tactics, effectively cutting them off from the bombsites. The most painful moments were when the Poles had an economic advantage but were still unable to convert it into points on the scoreboard. The eventual defeat showed that a lack of consistency and, at times, overly cautious play can prove very costly. It was a bitter lesson, but also a pointer to what the team needs to work on in particular.
A reward at last
Fortunately, following the disappointment against Nt Try, the next match gave the fans cause for celebration. In the match against VoiceLessEsport (16:12), the organisation put in a top-class performance. This time, the team opted for an aggressive style of play right from the start, which completely caught their opponents off guard. Defensive coordination worked brilliantly – covering each other’s positions and quick rotations meant that VoiceLessEsport had no easy access to the bombsites. This match proved that the team is capable of learning from its mistakes and quickly getting back on the winning track.
Upcoming challenges
Nexium POLteam have just one scheduled match left – a clash with 13 AVG. It will be a crucial fixture, as the result will determine how the team finishes the first half of the season in ESEA Intermediate.
