CS2: YNG SKiLLZ after their debut

- -

Until now, YNG SKiLLZ has been known mainly for its EA Sports FC section or even its ‘offshoot’ in the mini-league. YNG is a stable organisation on the Polish virtual club scene. Not only is it stable, but it’s also above average. Why are we ‘singing the praises’ of our partners so much? We’re simply stating the facts, and this organisation’s recent move only reinforces our view. In our opinion, at a certain stage of development, you reach a point where it feels as though you’re treading water. We don’t know whether the organisation’s management shared this view, but it is precisely in such situations that decisions like the ones YNG made a few weeks ago regarding their Counter-Strike 2 squad are taken.

The line-up was unveiled a few days ago; we even published an article about it. Returning to that for a moment, we’re delighted that yet another organisation has put its faith in Counter-Strike. After all, the more competition there is, the higher the standard. Proof that the Counter-Strike squad representing YNG SKiLLZ is no laughing matter can be found in their participation in ESEA Open10. And of course, anyone can sign up for this league. However, in Poland, an organisation or team playing in ESEA competitions tends to indicate that it shouldn’t be dismissed as just a ‘group of mates’, as the cost of participating in ESEA (financially speaking) isn’t exactly cheap.

YNG SKiLLZ have already made their debut on the semi-professional Counter-Strike 2 scene. They played their match against Council Peekers on Monday. Their opponents were from the UK. Unfortunately, the players will not count this debut as a success, as they lost 7–13.

The group stages of leagues such as ESEA Open1-8, Open9, Open10, Intermediate etc. are characterised by the fact that they are played in a Best of 1 format. Each team plays 14 matches, although the word ‘plays’ might be written in lower case in some cases, as walkovers are not uncommon. We’d like to see this team’s fans get to watch them in the play-offs, which are played in a BO3 format, where there’s more room for error. However, it’s worth keeping expectations in check, as this will be YNG SKiLLZ’s first-ever season in the ESEA.

Tomorrow’s match

In just a few hours’ time, our partner will face off against the Russian side 78s. Their opponents today also lost their opening match, against SILA. It seems they were less of a threat than YNG were in their match against Council Peekers. They lost 4–13 on Ancient. We wish them the best of luck in today’s match. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that in a few days’ time we’ll be able to report a 1–1 record.
