The Road to Success

Gloris eSports has secured a spectacular promotion to ESEA Intermediate! Following successful performances in the play-offs, the team demonstrated the class and determination that have taken them to the next level of competition. The adventure began with a bye, but in the subsequent matches the Poles left no doubt as to who rules the server:

The final opponent standing in the way of the coveted promotion was Trust Team – and it is this clash that we’ll be breaking down in detail.

Gloris eSports 2:1 Trust Team

Dust2 (Trust Team’s pick)
13:7

Gloris started on the counter-terrorist side and, in the very first round, successfully thwarted their opponents’ attack on bombsite A, defusing the bomb. The second round also went to the Poles; Trust attempted an aggressive push on B but failed even to plant the bomb. In the fourth round, Trixen won a crucial 1v1 duel, which maintained Gloris’s lead. The Russians managed to win a round after the tactical break by quickly attacking bombsite B, but the first half ended with Gloris eSports leading 8–4. After the side switch, Trust Team attempted an aggressive play on the CT side, but Gloris capitalised on this brilliantly, entering bombsite A in the 15th round without much trouble. The next round saw the Russians set a trap on the long route, but the Poles calmly dealt with their opponents’ defence. The map ended with a confident rush on B and a 13–7 victory for Gloris.

Inferno (Gloris eSports’ pick)
7:13

The Poles started on the attacking side, winning the pistol round despite minor complications. In the fifth round, the team settled into the rhythm of the game, successfully taking bombsite B. The ninth and eleventh rounds showcased Gloris’s patience and sound tactical preparation, though not without some tension; once again, it was Trixen who saved the team following a dangerous miss through the smoke on the banana. Despite a successful start, the first half went to Trust Team, who effectively countered the Poles’ attacks and took an 8–4 lead. After the side change, the Russians seized the initiative – first winning the pistol round, then punishing Gloris for a failed attempt at an aggressive push down the centre of the map. Gloris failed to break through the opposition’s defence, which dominated most rounds and closed out the map 13–7, levelling the BO3 series at 1–1.

Ancient (decider)
13–8

Gloris won the knife round and chose the counter-terrorist side. With the score at 3–1, the Poles decided to cut through to side A, securing two quick eliminations and taking the round. In one of the rounds, Trust Team, playing a pistol force, ran straight through the centre of the map all the way to bombsite A, but failed to notice that the bomb had dropped at the CT respawn. After the bomb was picked up and planted, the Russians retreated to the ‘donat’, which mvcias exploited by cutting off his opponents and defusing the bomb. The final round of the first half ended with Trust Team pushing into B, where they successfully planted the bomb. This time, Gloris failed to recapture the position, and the half ended with a score of 8–4 in favour of the Polish team.
After the sides switched, Gloris got off to a very good start, winning the first two rounds. In round 18, there was a chance for a round hat-trick, but a minor error with a Molotov throw was quickly capitalised on by Trust Team, who defused the bomb. When their attacks on Site A proved fruitless, Gloris tried their luck at Site B, but the Russians successfully defended the site and reduced the deficit to 11–7. In the next round, the Poles played eco and opted for a quick attack on A. This proved to be a masterstroke. Gloris seized the bombsite in a flash and didn’t let their opponents even get close to the payload. Ultimately, round 21 proved to be the decisive one; following a perfectly executed attack, Gloris eSports secured victory and the long-awaited promotion to ESEA Intermediate!

What’s next?

At the moment, we do not yet know the exact date of Gloris eSports’ next match, in which the team will face the Russian side Deja Vu. The clash promises to be incredibly exciting, as both teams are currently in excellent form and have stormed through the play-offs.
Deja Vu finished the group stage with a record of 8 wins and 6 defeats, which shows that their path was by no means an easy one either. Nevertheless, at the crucial stage of the competition, they showed their true strength, managing to win all four of their two-map playoff matches 2–0.
We’re in for a clash between two teams in top form who know how to win. It certainly won’t be an easy match for Gloris eSports, but who else but them!
The editorial team extends its warmest congratulations to the whole team for their excellent performance and wishes them the best of luck in their upcoming matches!
