Gloris eSports advances to the third round of the ESEA Entry playoffs

- -

In the 53rd season of ESEA Entry, Gloris eSports secured a place in the playoffs with a 9-5 record. However, this record was not enough to qualify for Pot A, where promotion to a higher division would have been guaranteed, and instead they ended up in Pot B, where the battle for promotion is a long and often gruelling one. Our partner received a bye in the first match and has recently played a match in the second round.

The second-round clash – Gloris eSports vs Mules

Gloris’s first full playoff match was against the Finnish team Mules. We started on the map chosen by our opponents, Train. The match didn’t start too well for our team, as they had to fight back from a 0-2 deficit right from the start. However, they only managed to do so in the 6th round, where they levelled the score at 3:3. They didn’t stop there and took the lead for the first time in the very next round. The Finns didn’t give up either and quickly levelled the score again, this time to 4-4. The Poles responded swiftly and decisively, not allowing their opponents to win a single round for the rest of the half and winning the first half 8-4.

It was time for the second half, where Gloris, thanks to a victory in the pistol round, quickly extended their lead to 10-4. Their run didn’t end there, as they added another two rounds, thereby securing as many as eight map points on their opponents’ map. However, the Scandinavian players did not give up so easily and began their comeback. They managed to win 6 rounds without a single defeat, but our partner was not willing to concede such an easy victory and, in the 23rd round, closed out the opponent’s map of choice with a score of 13:10.

The second map of this clash turned out to be Anubis, chosen by the Polish team. Our partner started on the defending side, which is the more difficult one. Despite this, Gloris put heavy pressure on their opponents from the start, managing to win as many as four rounds without a single loss. The response from the opponents came, and it was a rather blunt one, as the Finnish players closed the gap to just one point. This was followed by a series of back-and-forth exchanges, round after round, and the first half ended with our partner in the lead. A 7-5 lead on the defending side on the Anubis map is practically a guarantee of a good result, but the CS scene has seen all sorts of things.

Gloris eSports started the second half with a pistol round win and a 9-5 lead. They didn’t stop there and kept going, seeing out their own map with an easy 13-5 victory. This result has already secured them a place in the third round of the playoffs, and they are now just two wins away from promotion to the ESEA Intermediate league.
