The Bulls Team in European competitions

- -

It’s no secret that The Bulls Team regularly represents Poland on the international stage. Whilst there are a few European or international competitions of this kind, they do exist, and this offers some smaller clubs the chance to represent their country on the international stage. However, if a club represents a given country not in just one competition but in several, then I don’t think we’re dealing with a small club. The Bulls Team represents Poland in the VPG competitions, playing in the VPG Europe League Two. By way of comparison, the structure of European competitions is less like a system of divisions. Elite A, Elite B, Premier. There are quite a few of these divisions, so there’s no point in us describing each one to you. Suffice it to say that TBT is in League Two, which is the third-highest European division within these structures.

Leader with a capital ‘L’

So far, 30 matches have been played in this division, and our partner is currently top of the table. With 24 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats, they have 76 points and a 7-point lead over the team in second place. A solid defence and a solid attack – that’s how our partner’s campaign this season can be summed up. Proof of this can be found in their goal difference, which is, of course, positive. They’ve scored 79 more goals than they’ve conceded – over 20 more goals ‘in the black’ than the second-best record in the division. It will therefore come as no surprise that the current top scorer is The Bulls Team’s striker – iliu133pll, who has found the net 45 times in 30 matches. He also ranks highly in the assists table, with his nickname appearing in second place – 13 assists in 30 matches is an incredible tally for a striker.

What’s at stake in the VPG EU League Two?

As you might expect, the prize is, of course, to promote Poland on the international stage, but the main prize is surely promotion to the higher division, League One.

Well-known teams already at third-tier level?

Most of the teams competing in the VPG EU League Two this season are clubs that do not have a real-life football section – clubs such as our partner. A small group of people dedicated 100 per cent to virtual sport. However, there is one club which is the esports division of a fairly well-known club – not in our part of the world, but in Cyprus. We’re talking about AEL Limassol eSports. This club has been a regular fixture in the Cypriot top flight for 25 years. This isn’t the first time TBT has faced the e-sports division of a real sports club. Previously, they had the opportunity to take on an even more prestigious club, FC Basel.

The Bulls Team’s results so far

We have to admit that some of the results involving our partner look as though someone has started a quick match in EA Sports FC on the amateur/beginner level. In one match, we even saw our partner concede a double-digit number of goals. Such occurrences don’t happen often, especially amongst virtual clubs in the same league.

As most of our partner’s results are ‘clean sheets’, we’ve decided to highlight these three defeats:

  • 2–0 vs. AQUILAE FC (A)
  • 3–0 vs. FullEnglishFC (H.)
  • 2–0 vs. XI BIELSA (A.)

Upcoming matches

Matches in this league are played quite frequently. The next match featuring our partner is scheduled for 17 June. Given that they still have 16 matches left to play, this is relatively little time for such a number of fixtures. We believe they’ll manage to hold onto top spot until the end of the season, which will ultimately result in promotion to a higher division. A maximum of two matches are played each day.

ProLeague

As mentioned earlier, The Bulls Team represents Poland in various competitions. The second of these is the ProLeague. On a day-to-day basis, TBT competes in the Polish top flight, from which they managed to secure a place in the European cups last season. The structure of the European cups in the ProLeague is more reminiscent of that in football, but prior to the major reform and expansion of the number of teams. We are referring here to the old system, which comprised several groups of four teams each. This is precisely the system currently in place within the ProLeague. In addition to the Champions League, there is also the Europa League. In football, there is also the Conference League, which is the least prestigious; there is no equivalent of this in the ProLeague.

Our partner in the Champions League has been drawn into Group C, alongside LFC Braunschweig, Echelon FC and Bulgarian Boys FC. As The Bulls Team themselves have stated, this is one of the toughest groups in this season’s competition. However, this hasn’t fazed the TBT players, who currently sit top of the table.

After four matches, they have 8 points, with a goal difference of 9-3. Two draws, two wins, zero defeats. There are only two more matchdays left in the group stage, and the teams finishing first and second will advance to the play-offs. If they were to slip up, and TBT were somehow to finish the group stage in third place, they would then play in the Europa League play-offs.

Results (so far)

1–1 vs. Bulgarian Boys FC (A)
1–0 vs. LFC Braunschweig (H)
6–1 vs. Bulgarian Boys FC (H)
1–1 vs. LFC Braunschweig (A)

Upcoming matches

The last two matches were due to have been played by now. However, this has not happened, and they will likely be played in the near future. Unfortunately, we do not know when.

We hope you enjoyed this article, and we invite you to follow our partner’s social media channels to stay up to date with results not only in European cup competitions but also on the domestic scene.
